In the middle of farm fields. Worth visiting but little explanation there. Combine with visit to Almendres megaliths.

There are several ancient stone assemblages around Evora, and we looked at three of them. The cave paintings required a guided tour - we had not set one up, so did not see that. To get to this one, you need a car. It is...More

It's kind of between Evora and Valverde. We drove on some dirt roads that were quite treacherous, and then came to a parking area. We got out and walked a good 10 minutes to reach Zambujeiro. And then, underwhelmed! Like another reviewer mentioned, it is...More

This dolmen is of a considerable size. It was originally buried but when they excavated it the structure lost some integrity. It is impressive nonetheless. Kind of hard to find but worth the effort.

This is actually a fairly impressive dolmen, but it is covered with an unattractive structure. If you are very fond of megalithic sites, then this is a worthwhile diversion. In an effort to protect this ancient megalithic structure, there is a rather unattractive protective roof...More

We had some trouble finding this place--our GPS was trying to take us on a dirt path. Instead we ended up driving through farm fields! It's a worthwhile stop if you are in the area--no fee. Set in a cork grove.

If you've not had a chance to see a place like this, it is worth it! Many rocks moved to this site are around 5-6m long, 2+m wide, and 1.5+m thick. The dirt road, which is the last ~1 km of driving, is rough, but...More

This dolmen is located in a very isolated area reached by a bumpy dirt road that adds to the atmosphere of the site once you reach it. While there is no information about this site at the location, this structure contained weapons, ceramics, jewelry and...More

The Dolmen was an amazing look into prehistory. Unfortunately the amateurish attempts at conservation means you should probably visit soon while it is still available. That is if your rental car can actually navigate the foot deep potholes along the poorly marked entrance road.

This dolmen is in the middle of the countryside and is difficult to find. From the end of the asphalt pavement, one has to negotiate a bouncy gravel road for about a quarter of a mile, and then walk another 300 meters or so to...More
