My wife and I visited here as part of our road trip around Tahiti and it was the best stop of the tour. The sign for the falls is much easier to see if you are driving counter-clockwise (i.e. North) - we had to double back because we missed it the first time. Once you leave the main road, you have to drive quite a ways in (you'll pass a number of small houses) before you actually get to the falls. There is a clearing with some parking and there were people selling fruit and juices.

When we visited (July '22) the hiking trails to the second and third waterfalls were closed, so we were only able to see the first. However, it was still awesome - there was more water than we were expecting for early July, in the middle of the dry season. Definitely bring bug spray!

The Three Waterfalls a small drive up from the coastline, popped us to a well serviced carpark (with fruit stall, no craft market this time), with a short walk to the falls, quite nice, good for some been there piccies. Wow! what an outing. The lushness of the jungle was just so green and the amount of rain just during our half day trip explains the growth.

We stopped as part of a tour with unique Tahiti. Faatimai Waterfalls was absolutely astonishing. It was just like all those tropical island calendars with their picturesque waterfall photos. Too bad we couldn’t go for a quick dip. It was October and it was 29c.

Must see and spend a few hours. Love the nature and this is as close as you can get to nature and kiss it. Make sure to take your swimming outfits and towels with you and enjoy the water. It’s a must see.

A nice waterfall to visit. There is a parking area but no restrooms that I could see. It is a short walk/hike to the waterfall and if you are mobile easy to do. However if you have mobility problems or need a wheelchair, this waterfall would be difficult to get to. There is a bridge with stairs and a gravel path with some steps.
We have been here a couple of times and enjoyed it each time.

There are few options to visit this waterfalls,
But first of all: you need the permission from the city hall.
It is written, that it is easy hike. Don.t believe to it! Easy is just the first part to the bridge. Then forget it, it is moderated till the view of waterfall (about 1 hour from the bribe). And then, if you still want to proceed and go to the head of the waterfall, it is “hard”.
The whole trip without rush will take you minimal 4 hours.

The falls are stunning and well worth a stop if you have a rental car. Not even a five minute hike from the parking lot. There are massive swarms of mosquitoes (and we were wearing 30% DEET repellant!) so just be prepared that you probably won’t want to linger very long.

Seems there is much confusion between Faarumai Falls and Fautaua Falls. Faarumai has easy access, where it seems Fautaua involves a hike (we did not go there). We went to Faarumai. You can walk through the pool and climb the bank on the left side of the falls. After a short climb, you will find yourself at the top of the falls and can go on a hike along the river.

The first falls, a short walk from a small carpark is Vaimahuta Falls, which is well worth a visit. Although not wheelchair accessible, it was an easy walk for us (two seniors with one bad ankle and four bad knees). It's impressive at 300+ feet of water that falls into a small pool. No charge. Easy drive to the carpark in our rental car. I recommend sneakers or hiking shoes with rubber soles as the path is uneven with gravel in places and can be slippery when wet. Didn't see any restrooms or other services.

I drove here from Papeete in a rental car, a journey that took me a little over half an hour. It was a five-minute easy walk to the base of the first cascade, Vaima Hutu. It was a longer and steeper walk to get close to the other two waterfalls, Haamaremare Rahi and Haamaremare Iti, which lie about tandem to each other.

A lovely view. Be prepared for some steep terrain. And for pesky mosquitos!
