About Artist Boat
Artist Boat is a non-profit based in Galveston Island and its mission is to promote awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts. Artist Boat offers kayak adventures to the public everyday in the Summer months and on the weekends in Spring and Fall. All of our interpretive kayak adventures go to places on Galveston Bay that are valued for their natural significance. Our lead guides are American Canoe Association Certified Kayak Instructors and all our professionals with degrees in science or art. Most of our participants are beginners so every adventure includes all kayak equipment, tandem kayaks and begins with kayak instruction on land. Must pre-register for trip the day before adventure.

A great get away for a few hours.Karissa was our tour guide. She is very competent in getting guests in the boats. She shared her knowledge with us along the trip about the ecosystem and marine life present in the wetlands heritage site. She watercolored along with us. She is the perfect guide combining her affinity for teaching with her knowledge of the habitat and her artistic skills. I would take this trip again.

The tour was great! Very informative and the guide was very knowledgeable. The only issue was parking but that was a Stewart Beach issue not Artist Boat. I encourage all families with children big or small to visit as a way to keep those brain cells active during this pandemic! Also bring lots of water and sun screen verrrrrry hot.

Great all around. Instruction from Jana on kayak, painting, estuary were all the perfect amount. She even pointed out some edible plants. Learned some more ecosystem biology.

If you are coming to Galveston Island, don't miss this chance to explore the saltgrass marsh along Galveston Bay by kayak with a knowledgeable guide. Herons, cormorants and other water birds are abundant, the sky is magnificent and paddling this flat water is good exercise but not too challenging. Highly recommended for those who want to see some real island life.

Krissy was a great guide and host. She tailored our trip to our interests. We had an enjoyable time water color painting on the water and learning about the different kinds of birds.
