We live here on island and had friends visiting so we thought this would be a perfect activity to introduce them to Galveston history. We picked the great storm room.

We were greeted by a teenager who had no enthusiasm at all. We’ve done many other escape rooms and there’s normally an introduction/story/rules but he just led us to the room and shut the door.

Multiple things/clues didn’t work and the host would just tell us what the clue was supposed to be.

When we made it to the second half of the room our “host” actually came in and showed us all the clues and how it worked without us asking. It had only been about 30 minutes at this point. He even stayed in the room, which was weird, and kept telling us where all the clues were located. Due to the fact he gave us all the answers we were out of the second part in less than 5 minutes.

There was no fun photos at the end or recap that is common with every single other escape room we’ve done.

The worker followed us out, locked the door, and he also left. It was very clear he wanted to rush us through so he could get home.

The game host basically put us in the room and said “have fun”. She didn’t give us any details or really any starting point at all. When we asked for a clue once it was on a phone that made an awful loud beeping sounds and no one was on the other line. She came into the room a couple minutes later and said “sorry i have a friend here visiting me, did you guys need something?” Then when we called later for a clue she had no idea what to tell us, like she had never been asked for a clue before. We had no idea when/if we escaped until we called her and said “did we escape?” And she goes “yep”. It was awful and a waste of money. We’ve been to a lot of escape rooms. We love them. This was at the very bottom of the list. Do no recommend.

After waiting past our start time to begin the room, we found the room to be still undone from the last group to use it. Answers still written on items and vital things such as markers needed to write information down were completely dried out and unable to use at all. After watching a long introduction video to room, we found that our timer for room has started and was down almost 6 minutes already. Workers walking into room randomly asking if we were ok took away from the experience of the room as well. The puzzles in the room did not seem very thought provoking and at one point, we unlocked a box that had a key to another lock and upon opening the next lock, another key inside that box that opened another lock. Why all the keys to open boxes??? The staff was friendly but I will not be coming back to this location for an escape room. We did 2 rooms and each one lacked creativity and appearance to make me want to come back.

Lot of fun, we had ages 9-40s, and it was acceptable for everyone. We did the storm room and it was well thought out, difficult but not overly so. We only had to get help once and finished in 54 minutes. We were super happy with the whole experience and the lady running it (Allison I think) was super knowledgeable and great to interact with. Highly recommend!!

It was our first time doing an escape room, and it was great. The young lady who was our host was precious. The room we did would not be fun for younger kids. Our kids 15 and 17 were able to contribute to our escape....which, unfortunately, did not happen.

I absolutely recommend it:)

My husband and I had a great time. We went on Wednesday 07/01/20 and did the Broken Elevator Escape room. It was such a great experience. The staff there is so friendly and helpful. The clues are challenging, but fun once you figure things out. We loved it so much we went back on Thursday, 07/02/20 and did the Treasure of Jean LaFitte Escape room. That one was harder, but was a blast. Definitely worth the time, and would have been fun with a larger group, but doable with only two of us. When we come back to Galveston we will definitely be going to do more of the escape rooms. Wonderful time, wonderful people and wonderful adventure.

We had a great time at Escape the Island! The owner was a big help and he was very funny! Everyone there was extremely nice and patient with us! The room we picked was challenging, but he helped us. It was really easy to book online and they had a cute picture wall on the outside of the building. It was really cute and we got great pictures.

We will definitely be going back the next time we are in Galveston!

Very underwhelming experience. There were 3 of us which included my 11 yr. grandson. The Jean Lafite Lost Treasure room looked old and worn-out and not in a good way. The clues were sometimes confusing. There was no interaction with the clues just unlocking about 6 separate locks to retrieve a key to find another poorly executed clue. We have done escapes rooms before that were fun and had sounds to go along with the clues etc. My grandson was very bored and disappointed. When we finally got to the second room which was also the last it too was very underwhelming. It was 79 dollars for the three of us which I thought was over priced for what we got. Sadly I would not go again and would not recommend it.

My husband and I decided on a whim to try this. We chose the Jean LaFitte room. One of the subjects I teach in Texas History is about Jean LaFitte, so I thought "ohhh...I got this...." Wrong. It was SO much fun! We are in our 50 and 60s, and are pretty good at puzzles. this was incredible! Beware! There is one piece of evidence that I don't know how anyone finds!
Our host Ty was patient and kind and NEVER let us give up. Even when we hollered, "Come on! We give up!" Actually finishing it was very gratifying, and we planned to go back and do another room, but ran out of time. We will be back, though. Definitely worth it!
