Port is in an industrial area so they bus you out the the gates for free, from here you walk about 5 minutes to catch the tram into Blankenberge for E3 to catch the train into Brugge from the station opposite where they drop you off. Train only runs once an hour, eleven minutes after the hour and costs E5 return, a bargain if compared to the ships shuttle. Blankenberge is interesting to walk around for shopping and the beach.

Zeebrugge is a busy cruise port where cruise ship calls in a lot of European itinerary. Though the port itself doesn't have interesting places to visit, nearly all the cruise passengers leave the ship and visit the cities nearly. Brugge, an old city with lots of water courses and beautiful architectures, is the most favourable city to visit.. At first, I and my friends planned to go there by train. However, there is a shuttle service right inside the cruise terminal costing 20Euro return. The bus runs approximately 35 minutes one way and passengers do not have to worry about catching the scheduled transportation service. It leaves when it is fully boarded with passengers. With the return tickets, passengers are pretty sure they have the chartered transport to bring them back to the terminal on time. Arriving the parking lot of the shuttle buses in Brugge, visitors may easily complete the tour around the major attractions of the beautiful ancient city on foot within two to three hours.

If you arrive on a cruise ship, it's a typical commercial type port. You won't be taking any photos! The free shuttle bus will take you to the impressive looking, very modern, glass Terminal Building. It's an airy, pleasant place with a decent souvenir shop and an area where you can sit and use free wifi. Everywhere is very clean and tidy.

I have used the Port of Zeebrugge many times over the years including this time in April 2018 (and have booked the ferry crossing already for a trip to Disneyland Paris with the kids in October)... Despite the scare stories about passport checking, the arrival/departure process is very quick and efficient and the P&O and Customs staff are really good at their job and get everyone boarded/unloaded amazingly quickly

No need to go into Bruges to get Belgium chocolate. My husband and I wanted to walk around near the cruise port and easily found The Chocolate Factory. It felt like we were walking in the back door but it opened up to a large room full of well organized tables and shelves. You can buy prepackaged Belgium chocolates or create your own mix in a box or bag. All are labelled for ease of choice and there are lots of samples. Sugar free, Gluten free and organic chocolate available, as are Marzipan and fruit jellies. For the liberally minded there is a small corner that sells chocolate boobs and one other erect masculine body part. There are some antique chocolate making tools on display too. Hard to walk away without a taste and a treat for later.

We went on a P&O Wednesday to Friday Hull to Zeebrugge trip, which included a ska/mod band on the Wednesday and Thursday night and it was fantastic.
The ship is a smaller version than the one that goes to Amsterdam and doesn't include the 2 cinemas. The cabin is a small bunk bed affair that does the job of getting a good night's sleep.
Bruges is wonderful an extremely pretty and lovely city. We took a river cruise for 8 euro's per person for 30 minutes which was well worth it and gave us an opportunity to observe all the wonderful sights, including a lovely pub overlooking the river, I think it was called the wall of beer. It did indeed have a fantastic array of beers, we had a pint of lager for 5 euro's. They also had an offer of 4 small glasses of beer with different flavours, including a couple of snacks for 10 euro's which lots of people were trying.
All in all it was very nice and we would definitely visit Bruges again in the future.

Of the many ports in our cruise this was one of the most surprising. We knew about how great the food and chocolates were and everything we read and heard did not do it justice. It was other worldly. What was so surprising was the beautiful architecture from Italy, Spain, England and France. What extraordinary combinations.

There was a very good return shuttle service from the port to Bruges at a very good price, much less that the service provided by MSC. There was also an interesting Chocolate Factory just outside the port terminal.

Hello,
I am booking a cruise to Zeebrugge that arrives at 7:00 and departs at 17:00. Can you see Paris in that time or do we stick to Bruges? How do we get to them and how much? Thank you for your assistance.

I advice strongly to stick to Bruges; The reason is simple: you need at least 2,5 hours to get to Paris when there is no traffic jam. and 2,5 hours back. Even when you get a personal driver , it is quite ridiculous to do that, even to see the Champs Elysees.
Bruges at one day is just ok and you will not be stressed .

Can you tell me please how long the journey takes from the port to Bruges by train? Thank you

Train was really good only about 15 minutes and cost E5 return, or bus 92 and that takes about the same time. We caught the tram just outside the port on the main road to the train station, it works well and is a lot cheaper than the cruise ships offer. There is a good info center at the Brugge Railway Station for maps and advice.
