I organised a trip to the WW1 battlefields for a group from the Republic of Ireland. Most of the group are supporters of our local historical society. Flanders Battlefield Tours (FBT) was recommednded to me by a third party in the UK. I subsequently approached Genevra of FBT and gave her an outline of the places of most interest to my group. Given we were an Irish group, our interests were in places and memorials where Irish regiments were involved. The itinerary that FBT produced was excellent, it included all the cemeteries, places and memorials we had as priorities but also included some very interesting extras. Jacques was our guide and driver for the day tours. The transport was very comfortable and always on time. Jacques is a walking encyclopedia who really knows his history. He is also a very genial gentleman and a real pleasure to have as a guide. It was clear that Jacques and Genevra had carefully planned travelling times and routes so that there was plenty of time to see everything and to listen to Jacques commentary on each one. For our group the highlights were the Irish Peace Park, The Ulster Tower, Ginchy and Guillemont, the graves of Major Redmond and the poet Francis Ledwidge. I highly recommend FBT if you are planning a visit to the WW1 battlefields, cemeteries and memorials for their helpful and friendly advice, support and service. I also consider their charges to be very reasonable and competitive.

I first contacted FBT &Geneva about tours in 2020. COVID then changed travel plans. With more time to read about WWI, I noted places important for me to see and learn more about. We are 68 & 71 yrs old. We have traveled Europe on our own since 2009. Having done group tours, we find private tours are well worth the money. We have opportunities to talk with the guide to ask questions, we might otherwise not. Jacques was fabulous as our guide for 4 days touring Ypres salients, Somme, special requested sights and he went out of his way to stop by places he thought would interest us. They even accommodated special dietary needs for my husband with the lunches they packed.
Take time to visit Ypres and WWI battlefields. Learn the history from experts like Jacques and Genevra with FBT. They are the best. Can't say enough good things about our times and trip!!

We had a personalised day with Flanders Battlefield Tour at the end of April 22 and would heartily recommend them. Jacques collected us from Courtrai/Kortrijk railway station (we were based at Lille) and guided us round specific sites on the Ypres salient where a grandfather had fought. Jacques was patient with our naïve questions, engaged with our stories and added his memories of WWI veterans who made return visits the Ypres salient. Our experience was enhanced by the research that Genevra undertook into grandfather’s records and this filled in many of the gaps in our knowledge. We returned feeling that we had learned a great deal from new friends.

We booked the Grand Tour with Jacques (Jack) via his wife Genevra. They were great about responding to e-mails and setting up a tour on short notice. Booking the tour and making payment of the tour was very simple. Due to the pandemic, My colleague and I were the only people on the tour, which was an added bonus. We met Jacques at the Menin Gate after a nice walk through Ypres. I recommend a bathroom break before you head out. The tour was extremely informative and Jacques managed to pack a lot of knowledge into the four hours. His passion and respect for the war is truly awe inspiring. Transportation from the sites is in a nice van with air conditioning. The sites visited were absolutely amazing. As nice as it was to see the Commonwealth cemeteries, the German Cemetery we visited on the tour was so peaceful. It was a humble reminder that in war, the people in involved are just people and not necessarily good or bad. I've been to Belgium many times and this was by far one of my favorite memories. Thank you Jacques and Genevra!

Ah...thank you so much for your comprehensive review. It's been a strange 1.5 years when all is said and done, but we're glad that what visitors have made it here and on our tours that have operated have found them to be informative and something that resonates with you. This is all that we can ask for. Thank you so much again it really is appreciated. Kind regards Genevra & Jacques - Flanders Battlefield Tour

After many years of saying that I wanted to travel to Ypres & The Somme where my Grandfather fought in WW1, I finally arranged it in my 60th year. Both of my sons are now adults 34 & 19 and I wanted us all to learn more about what our grandfather/great-grandfather and the othe 'Tommys' went through.
I was recommended Jacques & Genevra by my brother who had been on a recent tour with them.
Jacques took us on a half day tour of Ypres Salient and a full day tour of The Somme. Jacques has been guiding in these areas since 1978 and his passion and enthusiasm has not diminished one small bit. He was simply amazing and explained everything in the most perfect way, bringing it to life with personal stories he had acquired himself over the years from veterans and from archives. I like that Jacques says that he is still learning and finding out new information, but my word does this man know his stuff.
I cannot recommend these tours enough. Thank you to both Genevra & Jacques.

My husband and I did the North Salient tour with Jacque. From the outset it was a great tour, bringing the horror and scale of what happened to life, giving us a much better understanding of what took place and where. The locations visited highlighted different aspects of the conflict and battles. Jacque was on hand throughout providing a wealth of information, delivered so you didn’t feel overwhelmed. His passion for his guiding role is evident, and makes all the difference.

We chose Flanders Battlefield Tours because they were recommended by a friend, and we are so glad we took their advice. We in turn thoroughly recommend them to others. You won’t be disappointed.

We booked a bespoke tour of the Flanders battlefields and couldn’t be happier with the amazing experience that Jacques and Genevra were able to provide for us. Their helpfulness and experience really shone through. Jacques brought the experience to life with his breadth and depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for sharing it with us. Genevra helped us to find information regarding one of our forebears that we would not have otherwise had access to. Would highly recommend.

We booked our tour for June 2020, hmm well that didnt happen. However the lovely Genevra kept in touch and we at last visited Ypres again at the beginning of May.
We were collected from the Ariane hotel by the wonderful Jacques and he kept us entertained with his vast knowledge from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
He was fascinating, reeling off facts and dates without a script. We visited my Great Uncles grave who sadly died at the young age of 19 after only seven months service. Jacques was caring and respectful allowing us time to gather our thoughts before moving on to where Arthur's last battle was located.
The tour was extremely interesting and covered most of the important WW1 sites and cemetries. Jacques vast knowledge of WW1 is amazing and his passion for keeping the memories of those who served, alive shone through.
After our return to the UK, Genevra emailed the documents she had thoroughly researched giving us more insight into Arthur.
We cannot thank you enough.

We did the Grand Tour, North Salient with Jacques as our guide. We are a family of 4, children aged 11 and 9. They were fascinated, and Jacques did a great job storytelling to keep it interesting and relatable for both generations. It was a very moving day, and we would definitely recommend Flanders Battlefield Tours for their evident breadth of knowledge.
