My husband's grandfather was killed just outside of Poperinge during WW1. We wanted to visit very specific areas around Poperinge and some towns in France where he and his Canadian battalion had served. We spent three full days with Jacques visiting the Ypres Salient, Vimy Ridge and Somme areas. Jacques was able to incorporate all the important elements of the... More

Your review is very much appreciated along with taking the time to complete it. We were privileged that we could follow both battle elements along with your husband's personal requests, these are very important, not just for our customers but also in honouring the memory of our soldiers such as your husband's grandfather, John. There by the grace of God... More

So moving and an amazing place. Free to get in and free parking. Toilets are not free. Spend time here feeling the motions of what these brave people did for us

Thank you for your comments, regarding the toilets not being free which I suspect are the toilets at Tyne Cot Cemetery you are referring to. As they are public toilets they do need to be cleaned daily along with toiletry supplies being provided...hence the minimal charge of 50cents. As the Kohima epitaph says "When you go home, tell them of... More

Regardless of how much you may have thought you knew about WW1, once you have toured the area with Jacques, you will realise how little you actually knew. He is simply a mine of information regarding WW1 events in the region. His almost continuous commentary, interspersed with little anecdotes, throughout our four hour tour is indicative of his level of... More

Your review is very much appreciated, we do try to impart as much knowledge as possible within the time that we have both on our daily Ypres Salient tours and our full day private tours. Suffice it to say there is never enough time, thankfully Jacques and I complement each other in what we do. Thank you for noting this... More

For Genevra and Jacques, Just wanted to thank you both for our Flanders experience. 'enjoyed' is perhaps the wrong word for this sort of day but Margarette and I were both delighted with the way it all worked out - a truly memorable, moving and humbling experience - you could not have presented it in a more exact and complete... Hello again, thank you for your review it's very much appreciated. I do hope that you find the war diaries interesting to read along with the additional background information. There have been daily commemorations at Thiepval throughout the duration of the 100 year commemoration of the Battle of the Somme which have been wonderful to witness. Thank you again for... More

Just the most amazing place and well worth the visit. I think every Australian child or adult should visit this place at least once to understand the sacrifice made by our soldiers.

If you are at all interested in WW1 I can highly recommend this tour. We went with "Superbreak" via ferry from Hull and were very impressed with the whole package. We learned a lot about Flanders Fields and how the cemeteries came about. The scale of loss of life is staggering and the cemeteries really bring this home to you.... More

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. Your sentiments about humankind are completely understandable, at Tyne Cot Cemetery there is one inscription "Sacrificed to the Fallacy that War Can End War.' It certainly makes one think. Kind regards Genevra and Jacques More

l have just returned home to Australia from Europe and would like to say a big thank you to Jacques. We did a tour in Sept with Jacques to visit the grave of my great uncle at the Rue - Petillon cemetery and visit Fromelles. Jacques was our guide on the most informative and interesting tour of the Southern Ypres Salient.Jacques in depth knowledge is second to non which combined with his many anecdotes and compassionate manner made this one of the most memorable weekends of my life. My only regret is not doing it before. I will definitely go back. Jacques - thank you

Thank you for your review, life's too short for regrets such as this, you've have visited these immortal grounds and god willing you'll be back. That is how remembrance is perpetuated for the First World War, to see where they fought, where they died or survived and where they rest in peace. Again thank you for your review, kind regards... We went on a tour of some of the WW1 sites to the South West of Ieper, and without our guide Jacques we would never have found most of them. Then the stories brought it all to life. And to add to that they gave incredible recommendations for things to do on our second day. I cannot praise these guys... More
