Very picturesque and they did a brilliant job of recreating it after the Great War. As a square it's pretty much just a car park except on Saturday market day but in summer I would imagine it to be a nice spot to sit for...More

Good local market surrounded by cafés, bars, restaurants, chocolate shops and history. Well worth a mooch around whilst in the town. The cheese and meat stalls are very tempting!

All the European cities I have visited seem to sport such a central market place, but few have been completely rebuilt after destruction due to the desire of the towns people for the return of such a beautiful place. Stand here and imagine life among...More

Given the destruction which must have occurred around the square and its building are a delight. It is very easy to wonder picking your restaurant and chocolate shop.

This is a very impressive town square where there is really cheap parking, €1 for 1 hour, €2 for 2 hours etc. Alongside the square is the Cloth Hall which is huge. There is a museum in the Hall but you can also go in...More

Owing to the war devastation, the market square at the heart of Ypres is a meticulous rebuild. However, there still is charm, and the rebuild highlights the travesty of war destruction. The square is home to several noteworthy attractions, particularly the Cloth Hall, Nieuwerck and...More

This is a nice large public square. The In Flanders Fields Museum is there, as well as many cafes, restaurants and other shops. It is quite lovely and you can walk around or take a seat at a cafe and just watch the world go...More
