Old medieval towers that make for a nice picture. On the bridge there is a statue with its history. Close by is a church and the Begijnhof.

This is really a must see when you are in Kortrijk. The towers and bridge date back to 1385. The bridge were destroyed in both world wars by the German army an the statue of Saint Johannes has every time to be fished out of the water to take his rightfull place in the middle of the bridge. A note: we in Kortrijk don't hold a grudge against the Germans, long before them the French an Spanisch military did as well a "good job" in trying to destroy the city....but every time we prevailed. Oh nice to know is that the river banks of the Leie, the yellow river that crosses Kortrijk , have recently been renewed and you can have nice walks there and stop at the many bars and restaurants to taste delicious beer or food, or better do both!
