This is really a must see when you are in Kortrijk.
The towers and bridge date back to 1385. The bridge were destroyed in both world wars by the German army an the statue of Saint Johannes has every time to be fished out of the water to take his rightfull place in the middle of the bridge.
A note: we in Kortrijk don't hold a grudge against the Germans, long before them the French an Spanisch military did as well a "good job" in trying to destroy the city....but every time we prevailed.
Oh nice to know is that the river banks of the Leie, the yellow river that crosses Kortrijk , have recently been renewed and you can have nice walks there and stop at the many bars and restaurants to taste delicious beer or food, or better do both!

To see on the quays of the Lys which have been laid out and are really nice as soon as the sun is there. The two towers are well presented in the middle of a set of old houses and more contemporary buildings that do not spoil anything. Have a nice walk to discover Kortrijk.

The environment is very nice, in all seasons. Towers can be visited during art exhibitions. It's a good starting point for nice walks along the river Leie, or to visit the old city center with very nice old buildings and churches and carfree shopping streets. Big parking space at 100 meters and not that far from the railway station.

These two towers are the remains of the city's old wall, one of the must-see's of town ( postcard picture ! ). If you have some hours to spend, make sure you rent a little boat ( BlueVelvetWatertaxi-dot-be ) to cruise around this historical part of town. Did you know that the statue on the bridge linking these two towers is Saint Nepomusenus, patron of the Confessors and the Drowned ?

Old medieval towers that make for a nice picture. On the bridge there is a statue with its history. Close by is a church and the Begijnhof.

The Broel Towers are a classified monument and a landmark in Kortrijk. The towers are probably the most important symbol of the city. The quays near the towers have been lowered in recent years, to give the whole a more pleasing look and create a nice place where you can sit an relax. In March the lowered quays were voted 'Most Beautiful Public Space in Flandres'. On certain moments you can also visit the Broel Towers.

This summer and every Saturday the municipality of Kortrijk made the access to the towers free and added activities inside like a ballon room and fee falling jump.
It is impressive to run through balloons in such an old building.

A lovely place to walk along the river and enjoy a summer evening. There ae cafes in the area and you get a good view from the bridge before heading into the town centre.
