Hot Chocolate and Waffles at The Chocolate House
The Chocolate House, A good spot for indulging in delicious hot chocolate and waffles. One of the unique highlights at The Chocolate House was their signature hot chocolate served in the form of a chocolate bomb (shaped like a muffin). It was an interesting experience as you drop the chocolate bomb into a large cup of warm milk, watching it dissolve and transform into a rich and creamy hot chocolate. We tried their Tiramisu Hot Chocolate and the Praline Hazelnut Chocolate Milk, both of which were absolutely delightful. In addition to the beverages, we also enjoyed some fresh waffles. The combination of warm waffles and the decadent hot chocolates was quite good. Despite limited spacing upstairs, The Chocolate House managed to create a cozy atmosphere. The staff were friendly as well during our visit.

    Excellent hot chocolate in Bruges!
This is my first time to drink a hot chocolate this good. You can really taste the cacao on the drink. They serve it with small pastries. And we also ordered a waffle. The vanilla ice cream is very yummy. I highly recommend their salted caramel hot chocolate.

    Makes hot chocolate an event.
The ginger bread is parkin where I come from but it's amazing. Dipping it into the hot chocolate soaked it up a treat. I had the tiramisu hot chocolate and the balance of flavours and booze was perfect. Every plate coming out was immaculate and pretty. This place makes hot chocolate an event.

    Reasonably priced delicious chocolate
You can’t visit Belgium without having some chocolate! My husband actually found this local shop and I’m glad he did. It’s way better than the overpriced, flashy Belgian chocolate chains. They have a huge variety of different chocolates and even cookies here. It’s a chocolate lovers dream. I don't love chocolate and even I was in awe. We bought some chocolates for ourselves to bring home and the prices are pretty reasonable. You can pick your own pieces, and it’s 10 chocolates for €15 and it comes in a cute little box with a bow. For gifts, we bought some of the pre-packaged chocolates because we couldn’t decide which pieces to pick and they came with a pretty nice variety. I just wish they labeled which chocolate was which. They also sell hot chocolate, which I’m sad we didn’t get to try since the chocolate was really good. Get your chocolate here if you visit Bruges!

Amazing hot chocolate and a fun experience
I do like a hot chocolate every now and again, but when our friends said they had got a table here I was a bit dubious, it was around 11am and I really didn’t fancy a hot choccie, how wrong was I. The atmosphere and setting is stunning and the first mouthful of the hot chocolate really is a wow moment and a must do! You can make it as strong or weak as you like - but would really recommend as an experience in Brugge.

    Best hot chocolate ever
When this was suggested, I wasn’t particularly keen on the idea as I don’t mind hot chocolate but I’m not overly excited by it. However, I am so pleased we went, the way it comes out is incredibly well presented and the whisking your chocolate into the hot milk is an event in itself. How did it taste? The best hot chocolate I’ve ever had by some distance!

Regal Hot Chocolate for Kings , Queens and your little Princesses
This is a gorgeous place, the ambience is lovely, the service attentive and the hot chocolate is served with panache. You have a choce of chocolate and we chose the madagascan. It arrived in a little chocolate cup with chocolate mini buttons. The warm milk is served in a large almost bow-like mug, all presented with a mini whisk on a tray. All you have to do is drop your little buttons into the milk, whisk and enjoy Almost regal, I must say.

    Excellent chocolate
We loved this place. Such a range of chocolates to choose from! We almost got caught out because the chocolate buttons or chips are served separately from the hot milk and you have to add them and whisk to create your drink. Don't eat the chocolate before the milk arrives :-) The waffles were good, too.

Nice place, Nice chocolate, Chipped Mug. Shame.
We looked at a couple of places to have a hot drink and chose this one. The chocolate choice is wide and we chose a Madagascan chocolate. The little buttons come in a chocolate-shaped mini cup which you then pop into your milk and wise. My cup was chipped right by the place that I would be drinking from as I am right-handed. ( we have just hand a pandemic! plus it just isn't nice)So I drank from the other side. I mentioned this to the server/cashier and she said "I will tell the manager". No replacement cup - no resolution. Such a shame as the place is ambient and delightful.

I was with my wife and son visiting Brugge and my son wanted to have some hot chocolate. Chanced upon this joint. We had to queue but the line allowed for the queue was unreasonably short as it was in the chocolate shop below the tea room. Waited for more than half an hour before we got called. Had to wait another 20 Minutes before the waiter came to take our orders. Unfortunately he was very rude and did not show willingness to serve us. It was to such an extent that we felt discriminated. We left without eating there and would not recommend this shop to fellow tourists. The place is also very small and not convenient at all if you intend to have a good conversation with others during your afternoon tea. I would recommend ‘The Pain Quotidien’ which is just 100 m away and they serve as well excellent Hot Chocolate with variety of snacks for your afternoon tea.

Very twee chocolate shop with “tea-room” upstairs serving an eclectic range of chocolate drinks. We went twice, enjoying alcohol flavoured chocolate and large bowls of hot milk that you submerge a bomb of chocolate into and then mix. Also appreciated their waffles. Great fun for the kids. Prices not bad (except for the bottled water). Service was prompt, bordering rushed. Ultimately, the experience is enjoyable for the novelty rather than the quality.
Two restrictions niggled, although didn’t they didn’t affect our party of three; there is a minimum order of one item per person (if one of you doesn’t want anything you presumably have to go stand in the naughty corner) and there is a 1€ charge for extra cutlery (i.e. if you want to share something there is a 1€ surcharge). Absolutely bonkers business practices. Didn’t get paper napkins the first time we went but did the second, maybe another strange business practice?

Ordered a hot chocolate and waffle which were nice and it is a lovely place to sit and relax. Although it is let down by poor customer service. With the exception of one waitress who was very nice and helped my wife with her order.

My wife and I ordered a waffle to eat between ourselves and when it arrived we asked for extra cutlery to eat it with. The waitress said there would be an extra charge, we didn't want to pay this as it seemed ridiculous so politely said no thank you and I ate it with the spoon the hot chocolate came with.

You can't pay with card unless you spend 50 euro so I had to go and lift money. When I came back the lady downstairs had charged for extra cutlery. I told the lady we didn't take extra cutlery to which she replied I'm going to check with the waitress upstais. The lady came back after going upstairs to check with the waitress and said she said you asked for it and I said but we didn't take it. So she reluctantly gave me my money back. I was probally as foolish as the lady for getting upset about the 1 euro cutlery charge. However, unfortunately this ruined my experience and would suggest that maybe they should increase prices rather that charge for extra cutlery even when the customer doesn't take it. However, at 20 euro for one waffle and two hot chocolates it is already quite pricey.

Usually only leave positive reviews on trip advisor but felt this needed to be said in case it happens regulary and from the negative reviews I have read since unfortunately I think it does.

Terrible service and attitude. Owner was telling everyone off, and even overcharged the customer in front of us (who had already spent a LOT of money in this shop).

We bought a few chocolates from here, and they were decent, but nothing special, and certainly not worth being spoken to in such a manner. Whatever you do, don't ask for assistance in which to choose!

TIP: TRY HOME SWEET HOME
It's just a little further down the street, but they were super helpful, and the chocolates tasted far better!

Please stay away. This is the rudest place ever they told us to stay home not to come here they got upset when we tried to sit at a table and they’re very very very rude. The place is not busy and the chocolate is overrated.

Rude and appalling service. I and husband had a long walk to find this place. Choose different types of chocolate products for gifts (about 100€). Been offered to sit outside and enjoy their hot chocolate. I was very hungry and decided to buy sandwiches in next door shop. And while waiting for my tea and my husband hot chocolate and our goods start eating sandwich…. Owners run out from another door screaming that we can’t eat food from another shop and they cancelled our order 🤦‍♀️. I tried to explain but it got even uglier. Disgusting behaviour.

Really not sure what the fuss is about with this place.
Rude and uninviting staff. Also note they close the tea room early so if you are really keen to go recommend attending prior to 5pm.

There are other great options near by for drinking quality hot chocolate, made with real chocolate.

The team at House of Waffles near by were much friendlier and create a similar hot chocolate experience. They also serve past 6pm and did not rush us out, so we could enjoy our hot chocolates (and their delicious waffles) at leisure.

The choclatier Dumon is just across the way and also does a really good hot chocolate in multiple flavours.

We are a family of four, visiting Bruges for the first time and chance upon this shop. However, we were greeted rudely...we were ask to queue in a rude manner. After 40 minutes of queuing, we reach the second level got our seats. The waiter who serve us was also very rude. When we asked questions about the menu, he was impatient and said he do not have to serve us. We were taken aback by his answers n when ask why he said that, he got angry and says he is not serving us n refuse to serve us. We had no choice but to leave after 40 minutes of waiting and getting our seats. We were shock, taken aback n very upset by our experience. We could not understand why this happen except tt he simy refuse to serve us coz of who we are
