It turned out to be just a portrait gallery, containing, I must agree, some very nice pictures. As I am not into paintings, I did not stay very long. If paintings are your thing, then this is well worth... More

The first attractive point of this art gallery is the nice garden one has to walk through before entering the ticket shop. Then one can admire a splendid collection of primitive Flemish masters. Among those paintings I was particularly impressed by The Madonna with Canon Joris van der Paele by Jan van Eyck for the beautiful painting techniques of the... More

Really enjoyed our visit here..spent ages drooling over the Flemish Masters. The Van Eyck's are superlative...why oh why do people rush round taking photos...there's nothing like seeing them in the flesh

Even if you doing usually do religious art thus is worth a visit The art here is so interesting telling social history through the paintings Shame the museum doesn't explain the inner meanings of the pictures as it would be even more rewarding The early images of Bruges as well as the shocking amount of torture kept us enthralled! Allow... More

Not really my cup of tea. The artwork was very stylized and dominated by religious content - not a school of art that I am particularly keen on. The old originals were quite impressive for what they were. The newer work was, in my humble and Philistine opinion, dire. The building was also very uninspiring - unusualy so for Bruges,... More
