Came across the area by accident whilst walking around.. was nice, though as a previous person mentioned, looked a bit scruffy. Would not be a place 'to plan to visit'..

We had read about these almshouses in the guide book and were looking forward to seeing their gardens but found that they were rather neglected and scruffy.

We found this while lost and looking for the museum but it is a rare gem and hidden behind a high wall, if you weren't actually looking for it, or walking past, you'd miss it.

These almhouses were meant for the poor. Only some of these are accessible to public. Be quiet when you are inside them as elderly people stay here.

Just off a main street, do stop for a photo. It's an archetypal almshouse with a pretty garden; the exterior wall has been lowered, so you can see it all from the street.

Almshouses were built by wealthy people in the 14th century to house poor elderly people and many are still in use today. Many visit the whitewashed buildings with pretty gardens. Great photo opportunity.

I found these Godshuizen late in the afternoon on such a beautiful early spring day, with bright sunshine. I had the place to myself and it was wonderful to enjoy the peace in this tranquil spot. There is a wonderful chapel at one end, well...More
