So quiet and calming

A good place to de-stress and relax. It is basically a walled quite zone. Listen to the wind in the trees sit in the chapel and chill.

I've only ever been here during the winter which is not the height of tourist season. Even though nothing is blooming, there is still beauty everywhere. The canals are beautiful and just so peaceful. After reading some other reviews I recommend coming in the winter just to stay away from mad rushes of loud tourists. It's not that cold in... More

This is the area where the nuns still live. Visit the small museum just near to entrance lots of interesting items on view. Stroll around the gardens and observe the houses still occupied by nuns. Really nice to visit here and learn the history?

If you are visiting Brugge but are overwhelmed by the number of torurists then take a quiet break in the fascinating medieval community founded by women. Today nuns have their convent here but originally it was not a convent. You are asked to move around quietly ( and not everyone does) but within the walled community there is a church... More

This is supposed to be a very tranquil peaceful spot, however it is somewhat ruined by the continual parade of chattering tour groups. There are lots of signs up requesting silence while you pass through, but the large tour groups seem happy to ignore this. It is very pretty but if you want a nice quiet spot to get away... More

We came through here as part of a walking tour. Having been to a Begijnhof in Amsterdam I knew what to expect. They are great places to just be still and empty your head of thought.

This is a lovely quiet place to walk through. After going through an archway, you come into a close surrounded by pretty cottages. In the middle is a grassy area with lots of tall trees. You are requested to be silent as the cottages are occupied by nuns. It's a refreshing break from all the tourists and restaurants outside.

The setting is wonderful. Just wish the tour guides would respect the wish for "quiet". Sit in the church and contemplate the history of this location. Worth the walk!

Anthony a lot of people are visiting this place it is always quiet. In every corner you have a different view with at both entries the cathedral in the background. Around Easter the garden is so lovely with all the dafferdiles. Pay attention: At 6:30pm the gates are closed!

Taking a boat trip in Brugge is a must for travelers. Most of the buildings along the river were ancient or preserved in their own ancient styles.
