This is a quaint, atmospheric square in the southern part of the Historic Centre of Bruges. Here you will find a handful of eateries with outdoor seating, the local De Halve Maan brewery and brasserie, a fun German Christmas shop called Kathe Wohlfahrt as well as the whimsical statue called Zeus, Leda and Prometheus en Pegasus.

Walplein is very near to Minnewaterpark and Begijnhof to the southwest of the square and can be easily visited by those entering the historic city centre from the south and Station area. It is a place worth making time to find this place for these wandering the streets and exploring the lovely city of Bruges.

Small square with a few cafes- very pretty, especially with the Christmas decorations. This was the first time they've decorated it (2019) and the shop-owners were very pleased with the response, so will hopefully decorate it again....Sit and watch the world go by, including the pony and trap clopping past on the cobble stones.

We passed by Walplein a couple times during our recent Xmas holiday in Bruges. This is a small and relatively quiet little square in the Historic Centre of Bruges, particularly during winter months.

What you will find here are a couple cafes, a fun sculpture called Zeus, Leda and Prometheus en Pegasus. We also like to visit the German Christmas decoration and ornament specialist called Kathe Wohlfahrt. They have a larger shop here compared to their branch on Briedlestraat in between Markt and Burg Squares.

You can make a quick stop and visit to Walplein while making way to Minnewaterpark and Begijnhof, its located just a couple minutes walk from these popular attraction areas in Bruges.

It holds a secret.

It is a pretty little square in the most romantic little town in Europe, but it holds a secret, for at one of its' corners, there is an entry into one of the narrowest streets in Bruges, called Stoofstraat, where, once a long, long time ago there where frequented bathhouses by the 'hot and heavy' elite, where you could clean up and shave and romp with a prostitute, or two, and clean up again, before you'd head back to your respectable home....

Walplein is a small cobblestone square which dates back to the early 12th century, There are quaint shops and cafes with outdoor seating. We stopped at the Brewery De Halve Maan and had a beer while learning about the Brugse Zot.

This is a very pretty little square, classically beautiful buildings, cobbled paving and cafes, all with outdoor seating & tables.

There’s a nice sculpture in the middle as well. Pretty quiet when we were there earlier in the day but really buzzing when we walked back through there mid-afternoon.

.. as are many such squares with little to stand out to be honest except for the carriage statue in the middle.

A small square with a sculpture in the middle from some Greek mythology scene. Does have the entrance to the Halve Maan brewery here which is the only reason to be here !

Although part of the busy area of the city, this small square somehow managed to be tucked away and quiet.
