One of the younger bridges in the city, St Boniface bridge, despite its weathered appearance, was actually built in the early twentieth century. It is small, very picturesque and very crowded. If you can time it so there are no Instagrammers in shot, it is worth your own souvenir photo.

The St. Bonifacius Bridge is undoubtedly the most visited and most-photographed in Bruges. It's actually one of the newest of the city's bridges, built in the early 20th century. But, what it lacks in age, it makes up for in character and charm. The area is surrounded with historic buildings and gorgeous scenery adjacent to the Church of Our Lady.

Legend has it that if you cross this bridge in 15 seconds, the first person you see at the other end will be the one that you’ll marry. No wonder the stately Church of our Lady is situated next to the Boniface Bridge, ready to receive the next couple at the altar! Being the most famous and most photogenic bridge in Bruges, this brick and stone bridge is perpetually crowded with everyone wanting to take a selfie and cross it in 15 seconds. The surrounding views are simply fabulous and you could certainly feel the magical and romantic atmosphere as you wander around the area.

This is a beautiful little bridge that crosses one of the canal waterways of Bruges, the Venice of the North. The bridge looks like it’s hundreds of years old, but our guide said it was reconstructed for safety reasons but made to look old again. It’s quite a popular place for a photo and we waited our turn. Another name for the bridge is “Lover’s Bridge” because engaged couples or newlyweds want their photo taken here.

A quiet and beautiful spot in the city. Earlier in the day it was quite crowded with people trying to get photos but later in the day it was much quieter as many of the day tourists had left. Right on a small canal and next to a beautiful church and set back in a park it as away from the noise of town. If you can get a few moments, which seems unlikely it is a romantic location in this wonderful town

A beautiful little bridge called the "lovers bridge" received its name because its famous for people taking romantic wedding pictures on it with the beautiful back drop.
The bridge is beautifully lit at night. Right next to the bridge you will find the statues of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

St. Bonifacius is a small narrow bridge that crosses a tiny canal at Arentshof near Arentshuis and Groeningemuseum. This is probably one of the most visited, popular and photographed bridges in Bruges. It is romantically set in the garden and just beautiful to see. Everything is very picturesque at this Medieval style bridge and scene.

Note: the St. Bonifacius Bridge is crowded all day, every day. Everyone wants a selfie or two here so just be prepared to see the tiny bridge with other tourists pretty much at all times. If you want unobstructed views and pictures, you need to visit early before the crowds arrive.

Exactly why the small, unassuming Boniface bridge, dating from the early 20th century, has become a hotspot for selfie-takers, is a mystery. There are many sights in the area: the Church of Our Lady, the Gruuthuse Museum, the Monument to Juan Luis Vives and the Arentshof with the sculptures of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse yet people are queuing to take close-ups of their own face while standing on the bridge. Weird!

I would HIGHLY recommend you consider staying at Nuit Blanche. You step out of the accommodations right onto Lovers Bridge. We were only able to briefly walk out and take a couple pictures because the park was closed due to high winds. It's definitely worth a stop to see. You can see if from the boat tours as well.

There are plenty of bridges in Bruges so planning a visit of the bridge may sound weird. One may think just another bridge. But don't be mistaken. This one is really exceptional and it is a must see in this city, according to me. Expect many tourists and waiting time if you want to make a picture without crowds. But I can assure it is worth it.
