This is a place you must have seen. Take at least an hour on a sunny day to wander around in the narrow streets. No car is allowed. Have a look at the wikipedia page before going there https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_B%C3%A9guinage,_Leuven

Large, quiet and very scenic beguinage. Not many tourists. As far as i know not destroyed by the burning of the city during the 1st world war

Very old little cobble streets surrounded by old brick walls right in the middle of Leuven Town. Used to be a "protected place " for nuns or widows in the 17th century. Today it serves as accommodation mostly for foreign students to the Oldest Catholic...More

Two possibilities: - flat shoes: time to refect about daily life in a very beautiful environment - pumps or high heels: only time to reflect how not to fall on the cobble stones

Meander and don't worry about where you are going - it's like being cast back in time, a really unique town within a town, startling in it's presence in the twenty-first century.

A little outside the city centre but well worth the effort. This Begijnhof was so much larger than I had expected! You can wander through cobblestone streets, lined with old houses. Lovely. But do leave you bike at the entrance otherwise you're in for a...More

There is not much that not been said yet about this place, an example of an oasis in the city. Comfortable shoes with thick soles. The city plans to replace the the old cobble stones by new, more comfortable ones which is a shame.

Well worth a wander. An oasis of calm. Makes you think about the life of women in the past. Go and reflect.
