I walked here from my hotel in the city center and it was a very peaceful setting. It's a lovely place to walk around and take photos.

Love the architecture! its actually quite peaceful. its a long walk from the centre but its worth while. Maybe before going here, you can bring something to eat and drink so you can rest at the benches, enjoy looking around and do nothing.

The buildings have a fair amount of character, good for a few pictures but overall nothing to knock your socks off, in my opinion, as many of the buildings in Leuven (and Brussels/Bruge/Antwerp/any other city you might visit) have a lot of character. I entered...More

Nice and quiet place. I cannot tell you a lot except that the beguines were not monks... They were just unmarried women gathering together...

This World Heritage Gem offers a beautiful walk close to the centre of Leuven and is a heaven for photographers. The beguinage is a real little town in the town, with beautifully restored, mostly 17th centry houses. They are used as university housing at present....More

Groot Begijnhof is very quiet and silence residence, and there were a lot of trees with fruit, such grapes and pear. And it became like a UNESCO site or something. It was not very big area, but it's quiet nice.

We went to Groot Begijnhof for a walk on a sunny and warm sunday. It is very calm and nice neighbourhood with loads of history. A bit difficult to maneuver with the pram as the road can get quite bumpy.

Having already been to other begijnhofs in Belgium, I was keen to visit the Groot Begijnhof in Leuven even if it was a little far from other attractions. I wasn't disappointed - the begijnhof feels almost like a citadel, with several lanes and a small...More

We stayed in Leuven 3 nights and would highly recommend visiting here. Coming from the US, we don't have anything like this. It was beautiful and a step back in time. You have to see it to believe it. Plan on a couple hour walk...More

Slightly off the beaten path, but well worth a visit. Large beguinage, beautifully restored. Haven of quiet. Cobblestone streets are picturesque but not so comfortable to walk (avoid high heels). You need some background information to understand the beguin movement and lifestyle.
