Golden St. Mary

Someone we met in the restaurant told us visit this church because of the beautiful interior and the ceiling. We decided to take a look but unfortunately it was closed. Well, we still enjoyed to see the golden statue of St Mary on the top of the church tower.

Neo-byzantine interior is quite splendid

This church is a few in eclectic style build by the same architect, Roelands, at the end of the 1800´s. The architecture is eclectic and has neo-romanesque and neo-gothic, but using at the time modern techniques like steel arches, so that the church doesn´t need as many columns to be supported. The decorations are neo-byzantine in style and have been recently completely renovated. Every part of the surface is painted, making this quite impressive church to visit.

Although not as old as St Niklaas Church, this huge church combines splendor with a worshipful atmosphere. Beautiful!

A golden crown over 19th century splendour

The spire of this remarkable chrurch, crowned with a huge gilt effigy of the virgin Mary, is a great landmark in the provincial town of Sint-Niklaas;. It is built in the neo-byzanthine style, though there are plenty of gothic elements as well.

After a fire, the church was splendidly restored in the 1990s: the gilt lettering, wall-paintings, the woodcarvings, though neo, are worth seeing, Check beforehand when you can visit, as the building is in use as a parish church.

Another lovely church

This is a nice place to drop by for some memorable photos. The church is quite impressive and dominates its surroundings. I didn't go inside here because of time limitations in my schedule but I'd recommend going for a quick visit.

One of the most magnificent cathedrals I visited. Must visiting site if you are around sint niklaas. You can find many coffe shops and restaurants around as well
