Just looking at the outside of this establishment made me want to enter ... it was so beautiful. There is a glass floor inside so that you can watch the chocolatiers making their delicacies. I bought a couple of items as it is kind of pricey, but SO worth it! Excellent Belgian chocolate!

Visit this shop today. No service what so ever. Stood in queue to purchase 2items and was completely ignored. 1 assistant continued to chat with a person not purchasing anything while I waited, which he noted. 1 assistant served another customer , then allowed them to pay while I waited patiently in queue, ignored. Other customers in shop browsing, not buying. I left and left items at till. I have spent 2 days in Belgium and purchased premium chocolate in all stops and this place customer service was very poor sadly. I won’t recommend anyone going here

During an evening walking tour, our guide stopped in front of this Chocolatier telling us it was the best in town. They happened to still be open, so of course I had to pop in and grab some Belgian chocolate. I bought 3 bars and some marzipan. The chocolate is wonderful and far superior to that we get in the US even compared to See's and Ethel M's.

Yes, the chocolate is amazing and it's the 4.8 star review on Google that had me seek out this establishment. I arrived early afternoon to purchase my souvenir gifts to take home with me and there were 2 ladies working. I waited my turn and I asked questions about the chocolates and still was figuring out if I should buy a pre-arranged box or pick out specific chocolates. After deciding on wanting to buy the 15euro "picking out your own chocolates" option, I patiently waited for another turn. As you know, in Europe there is no queue - it's every "man for himself". I waited and was passed over 4 times - with parties who had entered the store after me. Neither salesperson really cared - refusing to make eye contact with me and I really didn't understand why this was happening. I am a very laid back traveler and not rude or demanding, so I just didn't understand WHY. I was finally only helped with the salesperson went to help a couple and the man said to help me because I had been there waiting before them. This store is located in a VERY touristy spot - if you don't like tourists, don't have a job serving them. I don't like writing bad reviews and never go out of my way to do this, but this treatment left me feeling really mad.

This little chocolate shop was recommended to us by a tour guide. Ghent was our first stop in Belgium so this was my first opportunity to try Belgian chocolate. It was a little a little pricey - we got a box of mixed chocolates and a bar for 27 Euro - but it was worth it! We brought the box home with us and managed to limit ourselves to only one piece per night. Loved the different flavors! Very inventive and really like nothing I'd ever had!

With only one staff member filling boxes and cashing, it can be a wait.
If you’re behind someone ordering a mixed box or two, you'll need to exercise patience as folks take their time with choosing each piece by type or filling to fill their boxes which are also then weighed.
The lady filling is quite efficient in calling out the flavours and making suggestions based on whether you prefer milk or dark, but the process does take time.
If you see a line and don’t have much time on your hands, then it’s not a stop for you.
The chocolate here is divine! Back from our trip, our box is being savoured slowly and it remains the most enjoyable, decadent souvenir of our visit to Gent!

I visited the chocolaterie "Cedric Den Hoorebeke" while I was in Ghent. The chocolates were delicious, though a little more expensive than other shops I've been to and not too much variety (still worth it I think). However, the lady working was not the friendliest. She didn't take time to explain the chocolates to me rather she quickly named off all the types they had on display leaving me in a daze. I felt like she wanted me to make my choice as quickly as possible and leave as to not waste her precious time (even though I was the only one in the shop)...Maybe I caught her on an off day or maybe she doesn't like Americans. Either way I didn't feel so welcomed.

I purchased chocolates from three different companies in Belgium. The other two companies were mentioned in the guide books, but I popped into this one after seeing the cellar through the window. The chocolates were the very best I have ever tasted. If you visit Ghent, you must try their candy.

To put it simply those working in the shop were too absorbed by themselves to consider serving a customer so we walked in and walked out
