About
You can find a contemporary juke joint in the historical heart of the city of Ghent. It has been installed behind a century-old facade. The old-fashioned interior with imposing pictures and cosy design give the place that special feel of a beautiful 21st-century Blues bar. Your New Orleans in Europe. “Missy Sippy, the place you call home!” Missy Sippy is a cozy and beautiful bar, open 7 days a week. On many occasions we organise concerts, jams and other types of live music. Hosts Marie and Jelle corteously invite you in and are assisted by a strong team of bartenders. They serve with a smile, know how to enterain you and prepare drinks and barbites with passion and expertise. Let yourself be seduced by the friendly atmosphere of this barrelhouse, imagine yourself in a sweaty juke joint on the banks of the Mississippi and dance the night away! Let’s boogie! We are keeping the blues, jazz, rootsmusic and swing alive. On a weekly base, we organise concerts, jams, dj-sets & dance nights.

Very friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere! I've loved coming here for a drink for a while and always enjoy the performances they organize. Recently I forgot my mobile there, but after contacting them they immediately took action. They looked up my phone immediately and laid it aside for me. Within an hour I had my phone back. Really a top service!

As an American traveling in Belgium, it was a hoot seeing 50-100 folks bopping their heads to three Belgian guys covering blues songs. The bartenders were good / attentive / kept things moving in spite of the volume of requests. All the seats were filled but it was still comfortable and not overly-crowded (although, it was a Tuesday night, so perhaps things get a bit busier on weekends). The age of audience members was remarkable diverse from students to retireees. It was nice to see live music without a cover charge and with reasonably priced drinks. All in all - nice bar to pop into and enjoy some music.

Wherever I am in the world I always try to find a club/bar playing live music and Missi Sippy didn't disappoint. We had an absolute blast. It was pure serendipity that we found it in the heart of the old town next to Saint Nicholas' Church and a stones throw from Saint Bavo's Cathedral. It short a great venue with an eclectic mix of acts.

Expensive wine, mixed boards worse than uninteresting. To be banned because they use tourists by selling stale products (cheese) and sausage (with more fat than meat)
What a shame for the restaurant
To be banned at least for the respect of real restaurateurs

Thank you Missy Sippy. Great bar with talented bands. I attended the Wednesday open night and was amazed at the quality and range of bands on offer. A must for blues lovers visiting Gent.

Popped in after a meal in the centre. Was a sign saying live Blues music, so thought why not. Had a couple of IPAs and some good live music too whilst sat at the bar. We were in fairly early and got steadily busier. Nice atmosphere would recommend popping if in the centre of Gent. Nice bar. Would head back anytime.

On a Wednesday night in Ghent, after a lovely dinner, we stopped in at the Missy Sippy to listen to some live music over an after dinner beverage. Much to our surprise, the blues band was amazing, and for us, a throwback to the ‘70’s. We stayed for the evening and were really glad we decided to stop in. Everyone had tons of fun and we will certainly return on our next visit.

We got lucky. Met there early and started sampling beers and a local drink flavoured with elderflower called roomer. they also had a special punch made that night which was tart and delicious. If we'd arrived just before the band started playing we never would have scored a table.
Service was at the bar and friendly. Bathrooms upstairs. Some tables. Total capacity near 100(+)
We saw a band from Vancouver playing blues from the early 1900's with guitar, stand-up bass, guitar and coronet. One of the band members also played saw. Yes. Saw.
The audience was really into it, some dancing.
The band passed a hat for money.

They didn't have any acts on when we were there, so it was a relatively quiet night in Gent, but wow! What amazing cocktails! Decor is incredible and such a great atmosphere.
