The medieval monuments and UNESCO-listed landmarks of Ghent are even more impressive when viewed from the water. On this tour, set sail along the River Leie on a scenic 40-minute cruise. Pass the Castle of Counts and the Butcher’s Hall, cruise past the Graslei port, and learn more about Ghent’s history and cultural heritage as you listen to the live on-board commentary.

As a fan of urban street art, I appreciated that Ghent had an entire street dedicated to it--an attempt, no doubt, by the local authorities to constrain it to a particular area. While the attempt is admirable, the very nature of graffiti is that it is an act of rebellion and I know, from only visiting for a few days, that there are other areas of the city which have been graced by some beautiful artwork. As far as the official graffiti street goes, there are are some fine examples of street art here--not just simple tags and more elaborate embellishments, but some very nice examples of thematic art which is impressive in its execution. This place is definitely worthy of 10 minutes of your time to wander down the lane and take in the colors and patterns.

Totally underwhelmed. We were some spectacular street art and this was not. Some people may love it but definitely not my cup of tea. It’s free so you can make your own mind up.

This is an interesting idea. To have one alleyway dedicated to graffiti artists in an attempt to keep them away from the other sites in the centre. It is appears to work. It fits in nicely with a walking tour.

This is just an alley where graffiti is allowed and local people paint on the walls. Most of it is just scribbling, but there are some neat designs and paintings. If you happen to see it, a walk down the alley would be quick, but I wouldn't seek it out as an attraction.
