Odd largish pub situated in a basement. It's really a whisky bar, selling many different bottles and nips. It also has a range of beers and soft drinks. Owner seemed friendly enough. It was odd seeing a Scottish bar. You don't see many of them. Lots of tartan and whisky bottles all over walls. They also sold good Guinness. Worth a visit all round. 👍👍👍

Pleasant interior, vast choices, and friendly staff.
The bartender gave excellent recommendations, I opted to taste 3 different whiskeys, whose choice I left to his discretion. The bar also organises regular tasting sessions.

An outstanding bar with over 800 different bottles of whiskey. The owner Mario is extremely knowledgeable and a wonderful host. My wife and I found the Glengarry by chance around 11 after trying to find our way from the train station to the square. The bar is underground (very hip and intimate) and directly behind the statue in the square down some stairs-there's a a frame small sign. Marion took time to chat, directions, recommend an excellent steak house across from the entrance to the castle and talk about Ghent and his bar. Drinks were really good. The bar reminds me of where the "Beatles" were discovered. And the steak was perfect! Thank you Mario!!!

We visited again with friends, thinking it would be a nice experience for out-of-towners. How wrong we were! The lady of the house has become even ruder then before: condescending if you dare ask thorough questions, and when our friend asked for a blended whiskey he was told it to be downright unintelligent to request anything but a single malt. When "unknowing-about-the-high-art-of-whiskey" people visit this place they expect to be educated about whiskey, not treated as lacking intelligence.
We were ashamed having visited this place with our friends, and as a group we were downright offended (and yes, we were all completely sober, contrary to the owner's allegations).

After visiting the city the whole day, I want in this bar: cozy, warm, quiet.

A lot of belgian (?) good beers, and also whiskeys.

It is a pity that the staff was not that kind.

Go here! Pretty big range of bottles and some gems to be found. Located in a cellar, some weird decoration choices, but charming nonetheless. Empty bottles all around, a wall or two with open ones, cabinets full of unopened stuff. Not sure how many I was telling my girlfriend I want to try... Lots of fun for a whisky lover. Found the lady working there very pleasant.

When a visitor arrives to Gent, probably tastes some of the huge variety of beers. but if you like to drink a whisky for a change, then The Glengarry is the best option for you to do it! Scots, Irish, American and from many other countries offers you a big list of choices. i can confirm that for sure!

This was a really good experience. We wrote in for a whisky tasting, with entertainment from the Flemish Caledonian pipe and drum band.
A warm welcome, and we were taken on a journey through the land of whisky by Bob Minnekeer. There was no whisky snobbery. Each of the six whiskeys we tried, was explained to us, by Bob, and each whisky was accompanied by a little nibble that went well with that particular whisky. The atmosphere was lovely, very friendly and relaxed,
We were really surprised by how different each whisky was, and we all soon decided on our favourite.
The Glengarry is home to about 800 different whiskeys, so plenty of choice.
We came by train, advisable to leave the car at home!!. We also stayed overnight at the Ibis hotel, just a few doors away, most convenient.
The bagpipe music rounded the whole experience off perfectly. Couldn't have been a better evening out.

We came here twice last Christmas and bought our friends with us for two nights this year. We will again next year! It's cosy, comfy and if I lived here would be my local. The lady and gentleman behind the bar are friendly without being overly friendly. We did not ask whisky questions but I'm sure they would of answered anything if we had. I had the lovely Glengarry coffee (twice!), My friends had gluhwein and my husband whisky and beer 😉 I'm hoping next year a whisky tasting night is on when we are there 😁. The prices were reasonable, on par with other establishments.
