My wife and I had three friends from another country enjoy the Ghent Festival. So we thought a canal tour was one of the best opportunities to show our guests the beauty of Ghent. Since I had attended another company's canal tour, which was perfect, I decided to join the 'Boat in Gent' tour. But, we had a terrible trip on Saturday (16/07/2022), and our experience was awful. The captain just jumped in the boat, didn't say anything, including a warm hello, just sailed, and didn't explain any place throughout the trip. He was uninterested and disrespectful. Once, he stopped the boat and said something about a turtle (named Rudy or something) lying in the bushes that had nothing to do with our tour or the city of Ghent. Some of the guests (3-4 people) with us seemed to enjoy their drinks, but they were simultaneously shouting and disturbing everyone on our boat and other boats sailing in the canal. Once, those screaming guys motivated the captain to change the route and chase another boat with some ladies on it. I don't want to share the disturbing sentences and catcalls here. After the visit, I explained the situation to the ticket office gentleman (the tour owner, I guess). The owner asked the case to the captain (in Dutch) if he had given any information or not. Then he understood that we were correct; he just told us a rude 'sorry!' and turned to new customers next to us. Yes, it was the only response we got from him. I tried to explain to him that it was not correct, but he repeated the same rude 'Sorry' response. We didn't want him any refund, compensation, or something else. We were expecting a sorry from the captain. Or maybe a good explanation of why the trip was awful. Instead of any excuse, he protected his captain and backed his wrong actions.…

Really enjoyed this, so interesting to see a city from the water. We did this on a Sunday when there is not much open. The trip is 40 minutes with a commentary. Most of the people on our boat were local tourists so most of the commentary was in Flemish rather than English which was a pity as we would have liked to know a bit more about what we were seeing. It was very enjoyable however.…

The tour boats are easy to find close to one of the Ghent bridges. The boats are comfortable and you have a good view of the sites from whichever seat you select. The tour goes up and down rather than around a loop so you pass the same places twice but this didn’t detract from the beauty that is Ghent. My only complaint was that the tour guide switched from one language to another and I found it difficult to follow and you may have passed the site discussed before your language was reached… but it was very informative and nice to see Ghent from the water. Just slightly more than 7 Euro each so Mr H was happy with the price.. definitely one of the best value tours I’ve been on in a while.…

We enjoyed this canal tour of Ghent. There was a bit of confusion as to where to meet the boat (two launch locations) but after we figured it out we had a lovely 50 minute tour of the city. Our guide did the tour in three languages - swapping easily between English, French and Spanish/Italian (not sure) - so we missed about a third of the commentary. What we did understand was interesting with a good dose of humor. For approximately seven euro each this tour is a steal!…

Decide to do the boat trip as it was included in the Ghent City Card. Quite informative but but we hardly went anywhere. You could have got the same if not more from a tour guide. Lasted forty minutes and I doubt if we covered a mile.
