The Design Museum in Ghent was, frankly, a total disappointment. If you like bicycles, it is truly amazing – a huge part of the available display space was occupied by bicycles of all makes, types, and ages. However, I was hugely disappointed by the current collection. In part, I was using an older guidebook and had arrived expecting to see... More

The temporary bike exhibition was good. The permanent collection was pretty poor to be honest. It seemed a thrown together mix without any explanation. For example, they had a room dedicated to the most influential Belgian designer of the 20th century but only one introductory writing to the whole room. Some exhibits had a bar code which if you had... More

I was thinking this is about the latest design things, but I realized there were only some sculptures and some scratch drawings from some famous Belgian designers and architects. The bike exposition was good, but also only few things to really do. It was more like a hall with bikes hang up. It is not like the design museum from... More

The special exhibit “Bike to the Future” was wonderful, and I think interesting to all, bikers and non-bikers alike. Quite a bit of information was presented; allow adequate time for this in depth look at bicycle design and bikes in the urban environment. The show is scheduled to continue through October 23, 2016. The rest of the museum was just... More

We were lucky enough to discover the "Bike to the Future" exhibition, and spent an hour or more just looking at the prototypes for bicycles. The rest of the museum seems a bit more random, but there are plenty of interesting things to see. I would have enjoyed more information and a bigger display of the train car which was... More

Spent an excellent 2 hours discovering an eclectic mix of old and modern artefacts, furniture, glass, design prototypes in this soon to relocate museum on the West Bank of the Leie in Gent. Currently showing a fascinating special exhibition on the Future of the Bike in a city teeming with cyclists. Highly recommended.

Family of 5 enjoyed the bicycle exhibit. Kids under 19 are free, so we only paid 8 euro per adult and this was fair. Some really neat pieces to see, other than the bikes, but it wasn't a big excursion. Even the bathrooms were interesting.

The design museum has a range of modern art displays in historical rooms - which is interesting but difficult to follow. We went for the Bike Exhibition which we all enjoyed as a family, even though i am the only person who really likes bikes! Would recommend any cyclist to visit!

The design museum has a number of nice objects, but the overall plan or cohesion in the museum is missing. Nice temporary bike exhibition.

This museum has a nice collection of art nouveau, sadly they decide not to display it. The display of the permanent collection is poor. The museum does have regular exhibits, and if you are interested in the topic it is worthwhile to go, but still expensive.
