This old cathedral has so many artistic gems. You must see Lamb of Gods, beautiful painting. Go to the crypt, so many nice things there.

The building style is very interesting. Everything is so relaxed and nothing is a hurry. Nice shops around to walk through and make up some time.

This huge cathedral is worth a visit, especially to admire the Gent Altarpiece of Van Eyck. For the ticket price you can use the audioguide, that explains absolutely all!

Whoa! Go to the crypts, take a look at the church's beginning arches from the 1100's. Amazing. Oh, and the masterpiece by Van Eyck - over the top and a must see.

The cathedral is a must see in Ghent. A van eyck is currently being restored and costs four euros to see but there are plenty of other interesting parts of the cathedral. It was unbearably cold though - be warned!

Visit the crypt! Fantastic view if you can climb to the top! In the heart of the historic area. The famous painting needs a guide to be appreciated!

Very pretty church with lots to see. Free to enter and wander. Definitely pay the few euros to see the Ghent Altarpiece by Van Eyck. Great audio guide walks you throughout the truly magnificent work of art. Highly recommended stop!

There is so much to see, the crypt was very interesting as well as the incredible pulpit. We enjoyed the Mystic Lamb alter piece, but unfortunately we couldn't find George or Matt!

about 55km or so and I would advise using the train as Ghent is a busy town with lots of pedestrian traffic and cyclists. hope this helps.

It is my understanding that the altarpiece will not be fully restored until 2017. As the other respondents have said, you pay a fee to go into a small, crowded chapel at the back of the cathedral to see the altarpiece behind... More
