Although under construction, the museum presents a nice array of Belgium/Flemish art. I am not a fan of the medieval works, but they help show the progression of sophistication from rather stiff alter pieces to still life's that have richness and elegance as well as...More

It is a small walk from the city center, but this is avery pleasant , newly renovated museum with a fine but not too big collection of paintings that walks you through ages of European art. Drinks and food available

We visited in August, 2015 and many of the galleries were closed for renovations and upgrades. It must be an excellent museum when it is fully open because it was very rewarding even with limitations. The staff offered a reduced tariff because of the ongoing...More

A reasonable walk from Ghent's St. Pieter Station, this was my first Ghent attraction. Highly enjoyable. Had a number of paintings by one of my favorites - Bruegel. One I didn't know, and all very exciting to see "live". Other great classic paintings as well.

Some nice pieces, especially the medieval stuff, but overall we felt the collection was a bit limited. We used our gent city card so it was great to have entry to this gallery on that.

The museum has a large collection of works from the later 15th to the 20th century and is well worth your time IF this interests you. As I have no real feeling with it, I did not quite get triggered. Something about the setup does...More

My family and I visited Citadel Park and of the museums this was our favourite. We particularly enjoyed seeing the Belgian art and Cameron's photography pieces, finding the guide to this particularly insightful. We would visit again given the opportunity.

One of the unmissable places of you're visiting Ghent and have any interest in the visual arts. There is a bias towards Flemish art, understandably, but who can complain at finding Bosch and Breughel in an art gallery?

It is open on Sundays (10 - 18) but like many museums in Europe it is closed on Mondays. You could try St Bavo's Cathedral instead on Monday if you are looking for something that is open.
