Since the park was made during the German occupation in an effort to keep many people from being sent to work in the German industry as forced labour because unemployed in the home country, it has undergone some changes. The man responsible for bringing the park in the modern vision of what a parc should be (not a bunch of cleancut lawns, but a place where people can unite with nature and nature can flourish) had this vision. Some like Dannyvb don't seem to like nature and prefer the artificial way of thinking of the 19th century, but I'm glad this place has become so much more alive. I spent many hours there as a young man, with my girlfriend, and later jogging in it as an adult, and now walking and remembering the trees I saw grow for 70 years of my lifetime. It's a great place and well worth a visit.

It has a nice playground, artificial lake with a bunch of different birds. We even got to see one trapping a mouse and swallowing it. Beautifully designed and full of flowers. The little shop doesnt serve much food except for icecream so pack your snacks. Excellent place for pictures

It seems new rules are implemented for the 'Stadspark' and so nature rules. Flowers and grasses grow wildly around. Not really a clean and 'park' like views. I was here in the summer of 2017 and will not be back.

Located near the city center, the parc is ideally to visit and relax. Cosy small paths, bridges, ponds, .. relaxing nature. In the parc there are several recreation areas for children to play in. A small tavern is located in the center of the parc, serving great pancakes. For sure a recommendation to visit!

This large city park has something to offer for everyone. Nature enthusiasts find a large botanical variety and two big ponds, sports fanatics can go for beautiful jogs around the park, there's free concerts in the summer and kids can play at a large playground. Plenty of nice spots to go for a picknick or just visit the "Melkhuisje" for a drink and a small bite to eat.
