When in Dinant, you basically can't miss this bridge. And it doesn't matter if you go by car, or by foot. To answer your question, statues of saxophone are everywhere because the saxophone was created in Dinant in 1814. Here you go.

This bridge spans the river Meuse right near the church of Notre Dame in Dinant. It has various colored saxophone statues on it, in honor of their inventor (whose house is walking distance right nearby). We appreciate the chance to walk across it, look at the various saxophones (most dedicated to a specific country) and admire the views of the church and the citadel on the cliffs above. We easily found cheap parking nearby, and really enjoyed our walk through this small town.

I was here for a very short time but it was nice to walk around. This bridge is named after the French president due to his getting shot here. There is a statue of his commemorating the fact. This bridge is also used for exhibiting statues and creating awareness of major issues, etc by lighting colors. Adolf Sax who invented the saxophone was born here. Get some excellent pics from either side of the bridge, specially at dusk. So nice!

Dinant is about an hour away from Brussels, so we drove there as a day trip. You don’t need to stay longer than a day there. We only stayed there half a day. It’s a small town and the points of interests are mostly centrally located - including the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge. It’s right across from the Citadel - has Saxophone statues across the bridge. Make sure to cross the bridge, so you can see the beautiful view of the Citadel and the Notre Dame de Dinant.

This busy bridge has large saxophones replicas painted for different cities in the EU, quite a sight to see.

If visiting Dinant you will not have to look up this attraction. You will cross this bridge at one time, or even several times. The bridge itself is not very interesting, but the view is good. And the city has put up saxophones all over the city to celebrate the fact that they have mr. Sax himself coming from Dinant. The saxophones is decorated according to different countries of the world. We liked this display and the most concentrated amount of this is found on the bridge. The view of the riverfront with the cathedral and the citadelle behind is also very nice!

Very nice bridge crossing the river in Dinant. It's got a bunch of saxophone statues donated by different countries and has a great view of the cathedral, houses, and fortress.

What do the different county flags on the bridge stand for?

Charles de Gaulle Sculpture and Bridge
Visitors may wonder at the statue of a young Charles de Gaulle standing at the foot of a bridge that bears his name. The connection is tenuous but Dinant still celebrates the association. Lt. Charles de Gaulle, the future President of the Republic, was shot in the leg during a major battle in Dinant on August 15th, 1914. In commemoration the statue was erected on August 15th, 2014 as part of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I (or the Great War as it was then called). The bridge was destroyed in both wars and rebuilt. Today it is lined with stylistic saxophones created in the spirit of the nations of the European Union as part of the town’s tribute to Adolphe Sax.
