We participated in the “Ardennes Adventure “ course and had a blast. The guides were great in helping us safely navigate the bridges. There are definitely some heights to be conquered and the underground tunnel isn’t for those disliking dark or narrow spaces but you can opt out of any portion you wish. Lots of fun, I highly recommend.

I undertook a trip to Dinant by chance in July 2013. I had wanted to visit the caves in another part of Belgium, but because of distance and timing, a guide at the tourist office in Brussels suggested Dinant instead. I arrived into the city of Dinant by train and took the short walk from the station. I was greeted by the beauty and serenity of the River Meuse. You could not miss the majestic cliff, an imposing figure atop which was the Citadel, accessible by a cable car ride, and fronted by the Collegiate Church of Notre Dame de Dinant. I was intrigued by the variously decorated huge ‘saxophones’ which lined the Charles-de-Gaulle bridge. It was only on googling the history of the city that I discovered it was the birthplace of Adolphe Sax. Not to be missed is a visit to Grotte La Merveilleuse, a vigorous walk away from the centre. I closed off my visit with a leisurely taken meal along the banks of the river. All in all a peaceful and memorable afternoon visit.

My mum, sister and I challenged ourselves to the Ardennen Challenge in the Dinant Aventure parc last week. We started with the 100m obstacle course in the dark, it was definitely fun, but it's a little bit to long to be comfortable. After a while our knees began to hurt from crawling on them and I've gotten 2-3 bruises on my knees from this one. Next up was the introduction to the bridges, our guide was a lovely lady (I unfortunately didn't catch her name, but she had jet black hair in 2 braids and if she's reading this: Thank you so much for braving the heat from the sun for us! We had a lovely time thanks to you!). After the thorough introduction, we were allowed to climb the high bridges about 12m from the ground. They were really scary, but still so much fun. We then went in the biggest and highest bridge... We were scared to death, but man what a view! Our adventure ended with a zip line back down, which was fun too. I'd recommend this on a less hot day because with 30 degrees in the sun on a swinging bridge.. sweat was everywhere. Still, we had an amazing day and we will be back next year to brave the XL swing!

We visited Dinant in the late afternoon on the way back from Luxembourg to Brussels. The cathedral was already close but walking by the river, and along the streets of Dinant was wonderful. The sun was already setting down, and Dinant at dusk was enchanting especially as the lights were started to get reflected in the water.

We stopped by the place of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the Saxophone, and had fun taking selfies with his statue at the front of his place.

The 13th Century Gothic Collegiate Church of our Lady is a very imposing structure but I loved looking at it from the bridge getting into town. The birds chirping on top of the imposing front doors of the cathedral were very charming as were the various saxophones placed along both sides of the bridge leading into the city.

We also walked to their City Hall, and it was very quaint with a fountain in front full of greenery surrounding another huge saxophone made of glass.

Looking forward to another visit there!

Bit expensive, but worth it. The extreme sports location is gorgeous....the course is quite hard. The kayaks were a bit basic and there were too many separate. lines where

We were on a Viator tour of Dinant and we stopped at this location. We heard from many people that you can enter an adventure park with nature walks, cycling, a walk on a suspension bridge, etc. Our bus stopped nearby, and we heard lots of good reasons to come back here. The city of Dinant is quite charming and is probably famous for the birth of the saxophone and Leffe beer.

We bought a ticket from Brussels Midi station, train and 3 in 1 package tours for 90 euros for 2 adults 1 kid(6yo) roundtrip. It was cheaper than regular tours and you go around in your own time. It included Citadel tour with the cable car. Cruise around the lake and the cave tour which we missed because my son is too tired to drag around. Lol! I was very impressed because all tours were all walking distance. It was beautiful and with amazing views. Not too crowded. Colorful saxophones are along the beach for fun pix.
