Unguided tour thanks to COVID! Whohoooooo!!!
Jul 2020 • Family
Due to COVID visitors numbers dropped in such a way that it was no longer possible to organize guided tours.

This may sound like a drawback but the place is so well organized that it can’t go wrong. This is a super relaxed and easy cave, also with little children. So we ended up for a lovely underground walk by ourselves at our own pace. That was a true gift! Full view of all “merveilles”, feeling alone in the beautiful cave.

What could potentially be a tourist trap -it’s a long time tourist area- was a true joy!

Grotte Le merveilleuse worth the visit
Feb 2020 • Couples
The caves are really worth the visit. Tourguide was really passionate about the caves and switched easily between French, English and Dutch which made it fun for all. Interesting tour with interesting anecdotes and some really nice views. A must see in Dinant

Beautiful caves with an interesting tour guide!
Jan 2020
When you arrive, the facade of the caves is not the most modern of appealing but the inside of the caves is beautiful. Although it said on the website that it was open from 11am-4pm with tours leaving every hour, we arrived at 11am on a Saturday to find that tours were only running at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm that day so we returned later. The tour guide split the group up so that the Dutch speakers were at the front, the French in the middle and the English at the back of the line. This meant that during the tour, he moved along the line to talk to each group separately and tell us all the information about the caves. The guide was enthusiastic, informative and tried to keep a good rapport with the group but may have scared a few children due to his over-enthusiasm! The caves are beautiful inside and worth visiting!

Cave of wonders
Oct 2019
We really looked forward to seeing the "Grotto" and was the highlight of our stay in Dinant. The guide was very funny, and the route through the caves was well lit and easy to follow. The cave formations were fascinating and the tie to the local history was interesting. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for something different in their sight seeing adventures.

Dodgy entrance, but impressive cave!
Sep 2019
When you first enter the compounds, the little ticket shack looks a bit dodgy, but is actually alright to have a drink while you wait for the tour to start. The tour itself was pretty interesting, the cave impressive and the guide (English language tour) quite entertaining. If you are in the Dinant area, definitely worthwhile visiting!

Interesting cave made even better by the guide, who spoke 6 languages fluently, and made everyone feel included with his humour.

Amazing caves
Sep 2019
€9 per person for a one hour guided tour. We were in a small group and the tour was conducted in English. The guide had a pretty quirky sense of humour so we found it best to take what he said with a pinch of salt. The caves themselves are breathtaking and some of the facts are pretty mind blowing.
I paid €3 for a tiny bottle of water at the shop there so would recommend taking your own refreshments. Also there is no wash basin at the toilets so take some hand sanitiser!

Interesting tour
Sep 2019 • Couples
Good value at €9 for an hour long tour (for an adult). Guide was good although as others have said, slightly creepy sense of humour! He did the tour alternating between French and English splitting the groups up which worked well. Two bits of advice - if you feel the cold then take layers, it gets down to 10 degrees in the lower parts. For those with mobility issues it’s quite a long ascent of steps which is split up by sections of the tour but on the way out it’s one fairly long climb - he claimed 47 steps but we counted up to about 110!

Interesting cave. Guide is funny and appreciates customers. Entertaining. Can't say how it compares with other caves but this is definitely worthwhile to see.

Nice surprise

This is one of the three things to visit in Dînant. Very well arrange, safe and amazingly well conserved. The guide was interesting and funny, a real professional. Strongly recommended.
