Once you got on the river it was a lot of fun. The water level was low enough so that when I got stuck (who knew it was possible to be so bad at kayaking!!) I could just get out and dislodge myself. Lovely scenery - wildlife (ducks, geese, kingfishers) and castles. I would definitely recommend it!
Getting to the start point was a bit chaotic - everyone loaded up on a bus (even though we were wearing masks I did not like being so cooped up with so many people). There was a very funny and informative video playing in the bus that let you know what it was going to be like but other than that you got off the bus, went through the queue to your kayak and were shoved off without any explanation. It was hard to get away from other people, which ruined the tranquility of the place.

The river Lesse is Indeed an incredible place, which is really worth to be seen at a more quiet period. Don't hesitate to come back on May/June or September for a brand new point of view on this experience !

Fair experience when it comes to dealing with Dinant Evasion, no problems making a reservation and fairly friendly staff at the location, few queues but short ones. We took the train to Gendron and back from Anseremme, convenient.
The descent itself was okay but not great. The setting is beautiful and has the potential to be a great day out but unfortunately it's spoiled due to far too many people being allowed on the river at the same time. I get it, it's July and hot so we're not the only ones wanting to do this but both for the environment and the experience, a reservation system with a cap should be in place.
People disrespecting the rules, using the river banks to drink / smoke / annoy other people, wherever they like and please, doesn't improve the experience either. Not the organisation's fault but a little enforcement wouldn't hurt here.

The valley really does offer beautiful scenery and moments of true serenity.
However, kayaking is a tourist attraction, and its success is inevitable when the weekend has exceptional weather, as was the case in early summer.
We suggest that you choose a less crowded date for your next visit: a weekend at the beginning of the season, or a weekday in July and August.

Went on a Saturday afternoon. Bad up front - rules said no stopping due to COVID-19, which did not happen. Groups of people in their 20s (estimate) were stopped numerous times on the river bank, drinking, smoking, and some were very drunk or stoned. Groups were sometimes as large as 20 people. Some were rude and aggressive on the water. The river itself was beautiful, scenery was great, water was low, but still fun. Staff were good, and we were happy wth our vests and kayaks. Will NOT return on a weekend.

The kayak experience is nice but keep in mind that you have 3 queue even when you pre-book. First queue to get tickets, second queue to get to the shuttle buses and the third to have you kayak and paddles. After this all waiting the guy letting us on the kayak was quite rude and pushed us on quickly. The queues were also not so well monitored and keeping the distances proved to be challenging.

Thanks for this warning, it may help lots of customers to figure them out how their kayak trip will actually take place.
But please also notice that kayakking is much more easier et better organized if you avoid saturdays and sundays to visit us : never forget that, by 25°C, lots of people are in search of some freshness.

It was absolutely terrible. I have been there previous years, but I've never encountered this before. Firstly, almost no wildlife anymore. The few poor gooses we saw, were either hitted by kids with kayaks or bothered by idiots with beers and music on the shore! They released such an enormous amount of kayaks that the whole 21 km track was like bumping cars. People got stucked and hitted at all times. People's kayaks got turned and full with water on so many occasions. They have become so greedy that from all this kayaks, we couldn't have a moment of peace and enjoy any nature/already destroyed by humans/. It was like visiting the most busy beach , overcrowded and utterly disgusting. The water quality was also disgusting. People littering everywhere around the river... this places of buisness should dissepear if we want to have any nature left. Some people are just not suppose to stay there. They don't have the proper culture and it looks like the majority of people in Belgium are not brought up right 😒 zero respect for the nature

I dont from where should I start and which bad stuff I should mention before.
I am originally coming from an island so basically we grow up by the sea so we can swim perfectly well. Before heading to this place for caneoing I have gone through the reviews here so when I went there to feel safe I asked them to give me life jacket.
Ok so the story starts here.
Cleaning: what is this? they have no idea about it! Toilets are disgusting regardless of that they make app 40 euros per person but they don’t bother themselves to put soap in the toilets so that you clean wash your friends and hygienise your hands.
If you wish to enjoy the view and have a calm kayaking tour forget about it.
Before I headed up there I have checked their website read about their safety and regulations even watched their YouTube video. Ended up with what? Lots of drunk and misbehaved people stopping anywhere they want , bumping you around on purpose, shouting at you but most importantly sitting and picnicing in the middle of the river ! Yes just in the middle ! And yeah you have to protect them not to hit them but at the same time you need to make sure that you can find a space to go through as there are hundreds of people kayaking there!
What about your regulations? Everything is forbidden and the ones wo don’t obey the rules will get fines! Yeah sure?
Such a bad and poor management I have never seen in my life.
Towards the end of the tour one guy hit me on purpose and my canoe hit the rock and flipped over and the life jacket immediately absorbs all the water and sunk me down. ı am a good swimmer but couldnt get out of the water and someone luckily entered into the water and dragged me out ! Where is the help? You call these life jackets? Prbably they are too old that cant do the work anymore and basically noone checks them. Just drag one out of the pile and give you thats it. Money money money
I have done similar thing in Istanbul Boshporus and during the all route someone on the ship followed us to make sure we are safe. And in a bloody small river they even dont Bother to put someone who can check the problem creators and provide a good environment for the people who really want to do canoeing in a peacful environment. So believr all the bad comments put here are 100% Correct. I regret that I didnt Cancel the plan after readijg all these comments ! Shame!probably they are waiting for someone to die or seriously injured to make sure they inspect everything?! Shame on Belgium authorities to allow such businesses run!

Booked on a Wednesday for a Friday kayak session. Drove from Brussels to enjoy “La descente de la lesse”. When we arrived with our booking confirmation at the desk they said “it’s all canceled“ and we have sent you an email to inform you. I mentioned that I didn’t receive any cancellation email either a call. They said it might be in your junk mail.
The mail wasn’t send even in the junk mail.
They didn’t call me.
And we all drove from brussels for nothing.
Moreover, the customer service was very poor. Didn’t propose a discount for any other activities.
Very disappointing!!!

Positive: My 8 year-old son and I loved the views and the act of kayaking down river.
Negative: Our kayak sank during the journey. The drainage hole at the top of the back sank into the water during the rapids/weir sections. As it took on water the kayak sank deeper until the hole was fully submerged. Then sinking became inevitable. We had to clamber up the rocky river bank and other kayakers helped. This started to happen a second time after we managed to empty it fully. When I complained and was directed to a senior operator I was first told the he guaranteed that we'd sunk because we punctured the bottom. When he checked this was not the case he said it was because my son was too light and the front and I was too heavy! My BMI is only 26. Then he said we hadn't drained the kayak of water properly but that was their responsibility at the start. Excuse after excuse. I asked about a refund. He laughed at me and said he does this every day and I was the only unsatisfied customer. He then ignored me. Very poor customer service.

No lifejackets, no help, no directions, no safety brief, no idea. Almost drowned. Saved only by adrenaline. Ignore the propaganda; only do if you have experience. This is not for beginners; whatever the website tells you. This address here on tripadvisor, despite the picture showing red kayaks is for the Blue kayaks (les kayaks bleus) and they are a mess.
Did the 12km route. The Lesse river is stunning. Just not in a kayak. Particular highlight; the chateau at Walzin.
Easy enough to find and sign up; right on main road on the river in Anseremme. The train journey (included in price) from car park to launch ramp clean, quick and on time.
Everything else dire. The no help and no lifejacket thing really blows my mind. Also the water where we finally capsized was more than the metre in depth that the ptopoganda mentions. In the end had to abandon kayak (tied it to tree) after almost drowning. Walked back couple of km through forest (trying to keep railway in sight) and when (having told them where we tied up the kayak) showed them the 4 inch cut on my leg pouring with blood they didn't care. (Took months to heal properly) My partner had bruises the size of boulders and i also had a thinner cut from my knee to my foot. And when I went to the showers by the car park they were not even a trickle. Nearby Dinant is nice and there are pharmacies for your kayaking injuries. I could write pages on this company but won't. So in short: Do. Not. Use.

I have wanted to plan my arrival well ,so I have tried to make a reservation on their site. But could not due to an error message saying you cannot reserve for the same day, even though I have tried to make a reservation in the future ( 2 weeks later) . So they site is no good !
Called the reception they said, "no worries you can come onsite without a reservation boats are always available".
Next Sunday I drove my family 150km , but upon arrival first thing: cannot pay with card because "the city did not cable their booth" ,even though the other companies had a Pay Terminal...
Once we get cash we see that the Dinant Evasion employee IS NOT GIVING ANY RECEIPTS for the cashed in money, this should be audited as it seems dodgy !
The very non motivated employee serves the locals before us without any questions, but when we Immigrants get in turn he asks loud and from far away, if we have a reservation.
We said NO ,as... OBVIOUSLY as their site is made 1912 style and not working ,see attached image.
Then on a very bossy tone, from all the local people present in line he tells only US that we need to com back 2 hours later , he will not serve us !!!
I called the company asked for a supervisor, the lady did simply not want to forward me to one, and than explained it is all my fault because I did not Organize well. In short no matter haw low their customer service is , it is always the customers fault.
AGAIN the right answer would of been the usual, " no worries Sir I'll talk to my colleague he will help you in 2 hours, and we are sorry for this disagreement"
Talking with superiority and bossy attitude to customers ,made no one rich ,EVER !
If you want to have a nice time ,go over to the other companies around there, take the 2h cruise (maybe bring some snacks with,, if allowed) your money will be better invested than paying 49 euro ,for a low quality boat and a negative attitude

Volgens mij zijn er wel kano's, wij hadden er een voor 1 persoon en drie voor 2 personen, Het was super leuk. Als je het gaat doen, veel plezier toegewenst.

Nee sorry, kinderen moeten min. 5 jaar oud zijn om te kajakken.
De afvaart zal opnieuw in April 2020 geopend zijn :-)

Nous déconseillons fortement nos activités Kayak et Aventure aux femmes enceintes, par contre les croisières et location de bateaux sans permis sont tout à fait accessibles et sans risques :)
