Visited during the Christmas market, the best I have seen up-to-now: the choice and variety are huge. Presence of food and local craft stands. You absolutely must taste the "peket" and the "gauffres de Liège".

Pity that the terraces of the cafés are now totally invading the space of this old market square, where it was not so long ago so pleasant to stroll under the trees, sit on the benches and admire the mighty Perron and the Fountain of Traditions. It is now quite impossible to look at its bronze reliefs picturing the botteresses (women carrying goods in huge back baskets), the cramignon (popular dance) and the marionnettes (puppets).

There is a nice fountain here, but I think main point to come here, are the many open/air pubs and bars.

this is a square of restaurants in the heart of Liege, you'd like to enjoy a beer when it is sunny in one of the terraces, or a cocktail at night. There are plenty of options to share with your friends

We stopped here to meet someone and spent quite a bit of time on one of the benches just watching the busy and active traffic go by. There are also several bistros, coffee places and cafes on this square. The statue was surrounded by fencing upon our visit, looks like it's undergoing repairs.

A few interesting architectural examples, Sunday market along the river and that’s about it. A stopover on my way to somewhere else. Was expecting more from the cultural capital of Wallonia to be honest.

This shady square houses quite a few bars and restaurants - but is of no interest in itself.
Go here if you fancy a beer or maybe a light meal with the other tourists in Liége. Otherwise, Go somewhere else.

Different from what you might expect, the Market Square in Liege is only small.
Perhap this is just what makes it such a chaming place.
Several bars and restaurants are located at the Noorhern part of the square, also with lovely outside seating areas.
The square is flanked by the town hall and shops at the South side.
