A visit that is absolutely not worth the trip. Funds sunk into a restoration whose end result is an ultra impersonal experience. This place has no soul. You will be entered via an upper floor. All the windows are double glazed and not maintained so good luck taking photos of the surroundings. Screens everywhere, when they work. I am disgusted by this experience which disgusted me with this city. It's really nonsense and a shame for the local heritage.

One of the 33 UNESCO inscribed belfries of Flanders and Wallonia, the Belfry of Mons. Unlike many of the other belfries, this one is located outside the very centre of the historic centre, as it’s located in the gardens of the former Counts of Hainaut, but still walkable to the Grand Place.
The visit starts with an elevator ride to the fifth floor where you all round views of Mons. The views are only from the inside of the Belfry though, and there's no way to step outside to get views. IIRC, another floor up and you get to see the magnificent original mechanical clock (no longer in operation). Then there's a climb up another floor to see the carillon. The carillon and upper floor is cordoned off with a glass wall, but you can still see much of it.
The tour of the Belfry continues with the walk down the floors where there's various mini exhibitions of science and weather. Not much to see in the exhibits, but each floor has some information about the belfry and you do get to see the difference between the interior and exterior of the building. Inside, it's much less decorative and you can see the building is largely built from bricks, which was interesting. The exterior is a beautiful baroque. I especially like the roof, which is topped with orb like crowns, which of which is also topped with golden weathervanes.
The visit would probably take no more than 30 minutes, but it does mean you hear the bell chiming at least once as they do so every 15 minutes.

Vice view of Mons from the belfry!
Definitely worth a visit it if you are in Mons.
it is recommended to go something before sunset.
then you see a nice red glow all around.

Located 10 mins walk up the hill due west of the Grand Place. Entry is 5 Euros. You can use a lift. External windows rather dirty. Best views are probably is the winter, when the trees have shed their leaves. Not for people who suffer from vertigo, as I do. The floors at all upper levels are of slatted metal. They are perfectly safe, but it is difficult not to look down.

Make the effort to visit this belfry, take the small stairs to the top of the hill, where you enter the belfry, see the surroundings. Enjoy

We zipped up the bell tower, having walked round the whole of it to find our way in.
We wanted to get up to hear & see the bells chime at the top of the hour.
€9 to get in is steep for what was a lift then a quick climb to the top.
You can only see the bells from a small landing area - and they're behind glass.
You cannot see out over the town, sadly you need to go lower to another level to see out through the windows.
All in all, wouldn't recommend unless the price was lower.

We visited the Belfry on the late afternoon. Charming building, nicely restaurated. Best view on the city and the region.

9 euro entrance fee is expensive for its quality. After 5th floor (by lift), there are a few steps to go up to just see the bells, not the panorama. On the way down, the last part of the stairs could be dangerous for children and old people.

Know that the main reason to go here is the view from above as there's little else involved in a visit. Yes, there's some historical information to pick up along the way, but the view is the attraction. I'll agree that 6EUR is on the higher side but if the profits are going toward the preservation of this UNESCO World Heritage Site then I'm ok with that. You'll get a similar view from the base of the tower if you want to save your money.
This is my first belfry so I have no frame of reference for comparison but I enjoyed looking at the old bells and their framework. An elevator gets you partway up, but it's a narrow staircase to about the middle part of the tower (do not expect to get to the very top of the belfry). Happy to have visited.

We visited the belfry tower of mons on Halloween morning and it was beautiful. The city view from the base of the tower is great !! Don’t go to the top as they charge a fee to just go up the top n see the clock there is no open terrace for panoramic view . We did the mistake of paying 12 euros per person just to go up and get disappointed as it’s just class window with interactive kiosk showing you the town but no open balcony !! The best is from the below on a clear sunny day !! Mons is hidden gem of Belgium !! Beautiful and serene .
