Beautiful collegial! Make sure you check out the Car d'Or as well when you go for a visit. Take a moment to sit, meditate, and admire the architecture.

Read the history of the saint to provide some context before going. I have a weakness for beautiful old European churches and loved the time visiting. There was a free bathroom inside.

Although I am not personally Catholic we recently attended a Catholic mass at Sainte Waudru in Mons. It was wonderful to attend here because many years earlier (40+) I had attended special services there. The priest was very welcoming to visitors and they had a...More

This unassuming church is filled with history and wonderful architecture. It is currently undergoing a renovation but there is still plenty to see. You can see famed golden carriage associated with the Dou Dou festival here too.

This cathedral is very impressive from the outside and inside. The highlight is the golden carriage that is used every year at the Doudou festivities. Besides there are splendid altars and paintings. The treasury contains many old items, including leather in which St. Waltrudis (Waudru)...More

Mons can be recognized from far away because of the Beffroi of course but also the Collegiale, which forms an impressive building. I recommend walking around it at night as the lights make a great job transporting you back to the Middle Ages. The gargoyles...More

Visiting Collegiale Sainte-Waudru was one of the best parts of being in Mons. Even the cathedral in Brussels was not as mind blowing as this place was. I really enjoyed looking at all of the art gathered here. There were a few spaces filled with...More

Reminiscent of the Cathedral at Notre Dame in Paris, the Collegiale is awe inspiring. Unfortunately there was limited staff the day I went so no tourist support was available but it's not all together necessary. I spent more time in this cathedral just exploring the...More

Hello everyone, First time I visited the cathedral I was amazed how big it was for the small town of Mons. It is one of the nicest I've seen in this part for Europe (south Belgium). The tinted glass is exquisite, the golden chariot that...More
