I ended up getting a self-built ballotin with whatever looked good to me - and it was all delicious! There was nothing I didn't enjoy and it really makes me question the quality of the chocolate we eat in the US. However, it store itself was kinda bland and boring. I wish the design was more unique and showcased the company in a better way.

Tried lots of chocolate on this trip and think this was the best. Definitely recommend the speculoos (milk or white chocolate depending on preference).

Stop by this chocolate shop to taste fine Belgium chocolate. The window displays are beautiful. The day we went they had a 3 foot tall Christmas tree made out of chocolate.

Okay so this was weird. Huge display of truffles in window. I asked to buy 3 but they refused. Said they were just for display.Wanted to sell me a box. I didn't want a whole box, I'm travelling. I went to Neuhaus who happily sold me 3 chocolates AND gave me a free tiny chocolate I didn't ask for. When I went by later they had covered the truffles up.

FIrst off, I will not pretend for a moment that I am a chocolate connoisseur. In fact, I don't usually care that much for chocolate.

That being said, since my girlfriend of 2.5 years is Belgian/French, I have become a reborn fan in the last 2 years that I have visited (seven months total time in country). I have enjoyed most Belgian chocolates from easy to find places like Godiva, Neuhaus, and Leonidas that satisfy cravings every now and again from nearby cornershops.

I've seen the Corne Port-Royal brand around in stores and had never tried it, but was familiar with the branding. So as we were walking around and passed one by, we popped in and bought 6 random pieces two days ago. I just came back from a day trip where we packed the chocolates as a nice desert for our picnic.

Long story short: we were both largely dissatisfied with the lackluster flavor of each of the pieces and the plastic-y aftertaste (I don't know how else to describe it). We were surprised and thought at first it was just a fluke with the first piece or two. But, bite after bite, it was the same reaction. Even with a 2 euro special piece that came with its own separate wrapper.

How can chocolates that cost so much taste worse than the generic stuff in the Carrefour supermarket? (We do fruit/chocolate fondue with the cheapie 2 euro 200gx2 dark choco blocks sometimes, and that does the job well for me!)

Perhaps our tastebuds were off today. But, regardless, we probably won't be gambling again and just stick to Neuhaus or Leonidas (even though the latter seems to be a tad too sugary for my taste, but better priced and more conveniently located than Neuhaus)

I have known and loved Corne Port Royal chocolates for many years.
They have been my favourite chocolates.
Your manons were to die for.
I lived in Belgium for 30 years
On my return to live in the UK,
I even discussed with your commercial director opening a shop. He was not very encouraging.
Today, my son presented me with a selection box of your chocolates.
I am so disappointed.
They are smaller. The chocolate coating is extremely thin. The interior is over sweet and tastes of nothing in particular.
It seems you have changed to pander to an undiscriminating market.
I shall not be buying tour chocolates agan.

This chocolatier has a very interesting history, which put it high on my list to visit when I was in Brussels a couple of weeks ago. I am no chocolate connoisseur but being in the land of chocolate, decided to do my own little tour and picked a few places to sample different types. The story behind Corne is that the owner was once a pharmacist who turned into a chocolatier, and his family were so bedazzled by his success that they too took up making chocolates and in order to distinguish himself, he added the regal sounding Port –Royal to his name to distinguish himself from the regular Corne’s. The most notable chocolate he makes is the Manon Sucre, which is an artisan hand made praline with cream, crist nougatine and crunchy walnuts embellished with confectioner’s sugar. There are several locations to try some of these and I tried my samples at the Rue au Beurre 46 location, where the sales associate greeted me with such enthusiasm and happiness that it has put Corne at the top of my favourite chocolate shops in Belgium! A must try here also is the hot chocolate, which is made by melting real chocolate in the form of a spoon into hot water to give you a creamy, chocolatey concoction that will leave you wanting more because it’s sweetness levels do not surpass the cocoa levels and leave a beautiful aftertaste on your palette. If like me, you do your own chocolate tour then make sure you put Corne on top of your list!

Not worth the price and effort. This place is a ripoff for tourists. Beware u may even get charged for the free sample you were just offered. Plenty of chocolate stores around... go somewhere else

This was our first stop on our chocolate tour. It was supposedly the low end of our day but I think they were really good. Their prices are better than most and they have nice packaging.

What an interior! As a chocolate addict I loved it. I did choose this shop to buy chocolate because it wasn't just tasty but also beautiful.
