Newark Art Nouveau Building
Sep 2019 • Solo
This building on Rue Defacqz is a bit of a mystery. It's certainly not a hotel and it also has a plaque staying it's the embassy of Argentina, but it's not listed in official pages for the latter.

It's a very pretty Art Nouveau building and has several unusual hunting scenes. Worth a look of in the area, but it's well off the tourist circuit.

Mystery palace
Jul 2017 • Solo
Although I live in this area for some years, I can't get accustomed to the haunting beauty and mysterious charms of this Art Nouveau palace. Every hour of a day, any season it looks different and always startling. Its exquisite frescos and deep dark circular windows make me think about Golden age of Brussels when in the end of the 19th century an architect Paul Hankar created his masterpiece. Passing by I imagine the widow Ciamberlani in black silk long gowns, and her giant hat decorated with ostrich feathers, commissioning a palace for her artist son. Sometimes I look into deep darkness of the circular windows to find her thin silhouette.. Most probably, if the building was a museum, and I could get inside, the mystery would end all at once. A reception with a kind lady, selling the tickets... No, Ciamberlani stays closed for public, with anonymous inhabitants it remains a secret. An enigma, making your imagination fly away. I love the place at most in the light of sunset, touched by swiftly fading gold. These are moments, when frescos start to live their own life, it seems they all move, the men and Minautaurus in medallions. A passing by car, hits with noise, and the movement freezes. Still it is worthwhile to come again and again to watch the sunset spectacle of the Palace.
