La Bourse is the former stock exchange building on the appropriately named Stock Exchange Square. Sadly it is or at least was closed to the public during my visit in the summer of 2020 but I nevertheless walked past it multiple times each day being so close to my apartment. It is hard to miss because of its central location in the historic heart of the city and looks fantastic when lit at night.

Located in the stock exchange square, the front was full of people catching a good time in the evening. There were some civil works going on on the adjoining streets, but that did not deter the loads of people around.
So attractive is this area of Brussels that I recommend visiting, even if only to pass through.

This is an impressive building in downtown Brussels. Belgium's former stock exchange building is a colossal neoclassical structure that is quite uncommon in the city. Unfortunately there is ongoing renovation work around the square and it seems that there is no way to get in.

The Stock Exchange building dates back to 1873 and has large columns and sculptures, some made by the French artist Rodin. The square in front is truly beautiful, a few steps from Grand Place and always full of people. When illuminated at night it has its charm. From here starts Rue Antoine Danseet, a very long street of shops (the first section of which is interesting).

The Brussels Stock Exchange from 1873 is a beautiful architectural masterpiece. Finally open again after a long renovation. If you get the chance, be sure to visit the inside. Well worth seeing.
One of the most beautiful squares in the city is in front of it, with lots of restaurants and chip shops all around.

A wonderful place at sunset! We enjoyed the evening on sun-warmed benches. Not all the beers on the menu are available. The deciding factor is which taps are available. Payment by card only, but there are still people taking orders - thank you!

The old La Bourse de Bruxelles building is the stock exchange of Brussels. The grand old lady of Brussels is a staggeringly beautiful classically inspired building. The front of the building is especially with it’s classically Greek hexastyle portico topped with a highly ornate pediment with sculptures. This building and the adjacent Grand Place dominate the Îlot Sacré area with their sheer majesty.

The building is of course no longer used as a commodities exchange and not mainly hosts exhibitions. On the day I visited, there was an exhibition on capitalism, mostly informative for visitors to make up their own mind about this socio-economic system. The exhibition was mostly in French or Dutch, but there was a leaflet in English which was not as verbose as the aforementioned languages.

On a wet Monday in Brussels we discovered this amazing expo at the Bourse. We'd been to Pompeii and loved it so we were not too sure about visiting a very small sample of the glories of Pompeii. But we loved it. The exhibition focused on reconstructed machines and a selection of artifacts, as well as a virtual reenactment of the destruction. It was very well laid out and not too overwhelming. As it was set within the Bourse building it is possible to see the structure, the lovely ceilings etc. A very worthwhile visit, and it runs until April 2018.

The building that houses the Brussels Stock Exchange was constructed over a five-year period from 1868 to 1873.It is designed by architect Léon-Pierre Suys. The building also gives its name to the 'Beursplein', the square in front of the building and is located on the Anspach Boulevard in the center of Brussels.

Today the building is not used as a Stock Exchange anymore but is being renovated again to serve as a beerhouse and museum. The stairs in front of the building are a popular meeting point for students and tourists.
