Located near Granplas in a by lane of Brussels. An old Puppet show theatre converted to a bar. Retro decor with old sittings preserved.
Reasonable rates. Less crowded. Beer glass with a wooden stand. An experience to take.

Lots of fun, difficult to understand if you don’t speak french but that makes it feel authentic. A unique, one of a kind experience.

Great little spot tucked away, we had a couple drinks in the downstairs bar which in itself was really cool, with old puppets displayed. Got tickets right before and headed upstairs to the theatre portion. It was extremely warm and small (there was a major heatwave during our visit) however, still enjoyed the act. It’s in French but still got the jist of it.

A really quaint tavern with an attic theatre. Show was excellently performed and well executed. Theatre is historic so expect it to be hot.

Show was €12 with a reasonably priced bar selling Belgian beers. Show is performed in French but it’s easy to get the jist!

Lovely traditional venue worth a visit.

We were celebrating a birthday party, as previously arranged with the owner three weeks in advance, paying much more than the prices in any other good Belgian bar (you have many in the area, even in the same street). And he suddenly decided not to respect what was arranged, cutted the electricity and started to chase away our guests two hours before the closing time we had previously arranged.
For instance the Westmale Triple, which costs in any other good bar between 3 and 3,70€, costs here 5€. Why? We accepted to pay more because we thought the atmosphere was nice there, but it was totally the opposite.
Please, don't give one cent to this kind of bad service suppliers, let's start rewarding who deserves it and "punishing" who does not care about how to treat people!

The "Toone" is a must to visit if you are in for a beer in Bruxelles, close to Grand Place as it is.
Really old-style furniture and localities, make you feel very comfortable enjoying a Kwak or any other beer.
But "warning": don't visit at Mondays, as it's closed.

Really quaint little bar tucked away from the main streets of the city centre. The bar wasn't empty, but not packed either, though it started to fill up later on. I had a very tasty lambic beer, whilst my friends had pilsner. There was also a cat that came to say hello in the bar too - delightful! Good beer, reasonable price, authentic style. Would definitely recommend

This is a historic staple of Brussels, one of the must see places near the grand place.
What is sad is that the service is so below par that it isn’t worth staying. I used to come here year ago for a good beer and a typical cheese sandwich, but now the waiters could less about providing any attention or service. Sad to see a great place like this be so mismanaged.

Toone, which this year celebrates its 50th birthday, is closely connected to Brussels' history: originally located in the Marolles quarter, today it is at a stone's throw from the Grand Place. You can really breathe the old fashioned atmosphere while sipping many local beers like Tripel Karmeliet or Duvel. The waiters are very kind and the owner let us organise a small birthday party for a couple of friends. I strongly suggest you to visit it to break from the touristic frenzy of the city centre and enjoy a moment of relax and quiet.

This is a really nice cafe and at the same time is a marionette theater.

First of all, it is never crowded which is probably because of its location down an alley just acros the street from the Grand Place. This is a good thing because its a nice quiet place to hide away when the tourism season is in full swing and they're swarming all over the city, clogging up the cafes.

I've been here many times and have had coffees, beers, snacks and sandwiches. All are pretty decent and reasonably priced.

The cafe, made up of a couple rooms and a little theater, is not very well lit and the fact that there are marionettes hanging all over the walls, makes it a bit surreal, maybe spooky for some. I personally like them.

They have marionette shows which are performned by the Toone puppet master. They are done in a local Brussels dialect, I'm told, so don't bother trying to understand what is being said. It sounds like a lot of fun though.

The Toon Theater and Cafe is a Brussels institution; pity not too many know about it.
