Looks like a Calvinist mob stripped it down to the peeling plaster walls. There's nothing to see inside.

Located in the St Catherine's area of Lower Town this beautiful church sits in an area surrounded by restaurants and cafes. I didn't get to see the interior but wandered around the area a few times admiring it from the outside.

This is the bases of St. Catherine church. I saw this here and was impressed. It has a Victorian interior. I lit candles here and felt a warmth which came from the priest serving masses.

Compared to the history of Brussels, this cathedral is relatively new, it dates back to the mid 18 hundred, but it is worth visiting.

Located in the lower town stands this proud structure built in the 15th century, it has stood the test of time , a little rough around the edges, (who wouldn't be after all that time), once in side the vaulted ceiling are quite impressive. However this time of year all the action is outside with the chrissie markets, taking up the space of the lagoon, with a huge platform covering it, “awesome’. During the night the facade of the church comes a alive with a sound and light show, not to be missed.

St Catherine's Church is free to visit, but is not as impressive as the cathedral. It was nice to wander inside on a Sunday morning.

St. Catherine's Church sits on the site of another church of the same name and the ruins can still be seen adjacent to the current building. The current building is looks like it was originally Gothic, but acquired Romanesque and Baroque characteristics after more renovation in the late 19th century. The latter two styles more obvious once you step inside. In fact you can easily see which part of the church was renovated and which part not. The older part of the building needs a serious clean, while the newer part is gleaming white. The interior of the church is very bland compared to the exterior and especially for a church of this scale. There's none of the stained glassed windows you'd expect from a church that's over 500 years old.

I wouldn't go specifically to see this church unless you have time. Pass the outside of the building and that's the best part.

St Catherine Church ( Eglise Sainte Catherine or Sint Katelijnekerk ) is a church that dominates the busy and vibrant Place Sainte Catherine.
Theres been a religious building on this site since 1200,this church was constructed in the 15th century but completely redesigned between 1854 and 1859 by Joseph Poelaert, the wonderful Gothic facade is awesome while the interior has beautiful Baroque artworks ,its such a beautiful church and visually stunning, theres a daily fish market held out front of the church so the church gets a lot of attention.
A wonderful looking church, if your in the area well worth checking out.
