Our family visited with our two boys, aged 6 and 8. It turned out to be a good option for acclimating them to art museums. The boys found Magritte's paintings to be unique and interesting, and the work held their attention for the hour or so it took to get through the exhibits. We had some whispered conversations about what... More

I am not the biggest fan of surrealism similar to Dali but I really did enjoy this museum. It told a nice story of his life and art. Get the audio-guide as it really explains a lot. Don't miss the Empire of lights paintings as it is outstanding.

I was so looking forward to this as Magritte is one of my favorite. They own none of his famous paintings, as the famous ones are in NY. The walls are painted black, the paintings have a single spotlight that glares off them making them impossible to view from straight on, and the labels are so tiny you have to... More

As i said, it is a must for art/painting lovers . Magritte was so talented and a bit different from other surrealists. It cost you €8, need about 2 hours (depend on you) and on the south of central station, 10 minutes or less walking. It is better to have coins for the locker, you cannot carry your belongings inside (we... The museum Magritte was exceptionnally well laid out. One certainly gained an impression of the artist's progression throughout his life. His works were beautifully displayed. I would have liked to learn more about his philosophy of words and symbols, which is probably an attribute of the museum: it made me more curious.

First some reviewers seem to be confused between Magritte's house and this museum. This is where work from Magritte's life is displayed over 3 floors. You don't need to know a lot to get something from this - although some French helps (even my limited ability helped). It was interesting to see how he earnt money in the early days.... More

Lot's of work from his earliest to his latest inclding advertising and commercial work but somehow it seems much of the best work is not here. A good chronological history of the artist

This was by far my highlight whilst in Brussels. The museum itself is modern and contemporary and is a huge space! It was only approx €2 (if I remember correctly) for admission. The artwork is presented brilliantly, and even my boyfriend who isn't really into art like me, enjoyed it too. TIP: Make sure to take 1€ coins for the... More

Because of recent troubles and security needs, at present all visitors have to enter through a small, well controlled entrance. But once inside if, like us, you particularly enjoy Magritte's work, you enter a treasure trove. Whilst his more well know works are well documented, we especially enjoyed the pictures and filmed items that give the background to his life.... More
