Beautiful museum dedicated to the city: a model, engravings, paintings, etc. allow to see its evolution, castles that no longer exist, the appearance of new neighborhoods, the upheavals linked to the evolution of the city, projects that have never been realized...
Several rooms also exhibit traditional Brussels productions (porcelain, rakework, lace, beer....) and local artistic achievements (altarpieces, sculptures....), others focus on celebrations (two beautiful paintings showing the carnival).
Through the windows we have different views of the large square.
The structure and the space on the top floor are really spectacular.
Once the whole wardrobe of the manneken-pis was on display, it is now elsewhere in a place strictly reserved for him, we have preserved some costumes and humorous drawings.

There is a museum in the Maison du Roi, but the building is also worth seeing from the outside. This is also an architectural tour de force. The decorations on the facade are endless and this building is also beautifully illuminated in the evening.

In a globally recognized city square like the Grand Place, Maison du Roi is impressive at first sight. It is a former guildhall that reflects the past wealth and affluence of Brussels. It is now the city museum that the tells the history of the Belgian capital. Well worth special attention while exploring the surrounding.

One of the most striking buildings on the Grand Place. We stopped to pose for photos in front of this big classic building. All lit up at night. Part of the harmonious architecture.

We came to the Grand Place several times. All the buildings are absolutely beautiful and this one is no exception. It is a museum of the city with many paintings, tapestries and numerous other artifacts. Highly recommended.

As our tour guide had led us into the magnificent Grand Place, as part of our tour of central Brussels, we were amazed by the splendid buildings situated all around this large city square.
One of the buildings which caught our attention was the Maison du Roi.
Its unique architecture with numerous arches on its façade stretched across three levels of the building give it a spectacular appearance. The central tall tower topped with a spire adds to its spectacular architecture
This building now houses the Brussels City Museum. Sadly, as we were on a tour, we did not have time to visit the museum. We will put this on our list of things to do should we visit Brussels again, at some time in the future.
This attractive, large building certainly drew lots of attention from visitors to the square whilst we were there. It was certainly a popular subject for photographs.
An amazing building which should not be overlooked by any tourist visiting Brussels’ Grand Place!

Interesting museum and worth a visit. Highlights including the original Manneken Pis and the original St Michael statue from the top of the Town Hall. Really impressive and some displays were interesting, could really spend a lot of time there.
