Great historic place

Beautiful historic place just outside Brussels. Great panoramic view after climbing the stairs. Free shuttle to the Ferme de Hougoumont just across the street.

Well worth a visit to say you've witnessed a location that influenced the future of Europe. The view of the battlefield is amazing and evocative to think what happened below you all those years ago. Also an excellent, informative museum.

Very interesting and informative museum and the views from the Butt du Lion are certainly worth the climb up the steep steps. We took our three children (9, 12,13) and they really enjoyed the visit. Well worth a visit.

The mound dates back about 150 years, the museum underneath just a few. Both are well worth the visit, as is the interactive experience at the top. A wonderful place, full of fascinating insights - check out how a Parisian newspaper described Bonapart as he drew nearer to the capital!

Lots of interesting information in the museum , great views from the top of the Lions mound if you can walk the steps!. We had the 3d glasses at the top which were very good. We took the bus to Hougoumont farm which was worth a visit, much more than I expected .Battle sites very well done. Stayed at 1815... More

Free to access and gives a good view of the battlefield and surrounding areas. There are 221 steps and on a hot day that is a lot. You can see the main areas of the battle and how they are located to each other.

I am not an officianado of battlefields and wargraves, but having travelled the world, I have visited many, from the continent, to North Africa, to Ambon in Indonesia, to the islands north of Papua, and they all instill in me a feeling of reverance and sorrow. But I am interested in Waterloo, Wellington and, to a lesser degree, by Napolean,... More

After hopping on a but for 2.10 euros we arrived at the ESSO petrol station and crossed the road to the site. Easy enough and it beat a 5km trek! The tour itself had lots of information and a huge amount of artifacts which was impressive and interesting. The 4D cinema show was at the end of the tour and... More

Poor signage, it took us a while to find the entrance to the panorama, finally found a tiny sign and down we went to the reception. The panorama is fabulous, the climb to the top of the Lion's Monument is certainly for the fit with no heart conditions, gave this a pass. The museum is great and worth every penny... More

I've been to Waterloo a number of times, this was my first visit to the new memorial and I was incredibly impressed. Being constructed entirely underground it replaces the previous visitor centre meaning that the battlefield is more authentic since several modern buildings have been removed and the new visitor centre doesn't detract from the landscape. The museum itself uses... More
