Just walked the Waterloo battlefield with a guide Peter Forrester from the 1815 guides. Even though I had read alot about the battle would have all been for nought without Peters expert help and knowlege of the physical battlefield. He explained all the maps in the visitors centre and then asked was there anything specific we wanted to see( I wanted to see where the Scots Greys had entered the field) and then took us on a wonerdful stroll to ALL the key sites. Wonderful experience and even my wife enjoyed the company and stories.

Location: Ferme de Mont Saint Jean
Guide: Peter Forrest
Being a doctor, I was very interested in this site of the Allied field hospital. Peter went out of his way to customize this experience for me. Well before my visit, he emailed me to find out exactly what I was hoping to get out of my visit.
He brought with him a fascinating book by a retired British surgeon about the medical care at the time of the Waterloo battle, and the disposition of the wounded. Peter was very patient with me as we went through the wonderful exhibits here.
He has an encyclopedic knowledge about Waterloo, the personalities, the armies and such. He cheerfully answered all my questions. My experience could not have been better.
To top it off, he took the time to drive me to the Lion Monument!
I highly recommend the Guides 1815.
