A short distance from the center of Antwerp what was a private estate until the late 1930's has since been a beautiful park. the original castle now a public restaurant and the open air sculpture museum. The latter's collection will fascinate anyone, it is stunning. The gardens in which the pieces are set makes a perfect joyful background. Don't miss this one.

One of the best parks in Antwerp. Lovely walks with my wife here between different art pieces and nature. Fantastic. Wish more parks were like this. Very clean too. Let's keep it that way ; )

Where else in the world can you find a Rodin rubbing shoulders with a giant peeled potato, a peugot car apparently peeing against a flying horse, a tree hung web of wires waving in a mock breeze and a very grown up marble run for water barrels?

I Rest My Case.

P.S.
If you are the slightest bit interested in Sculture DO NOT MISS THIS.

P.P.S.
Its free.

It is completely unvandalised and un-graffitied. I repeat...there is not a trace of graffiti on any of these monumental and exquisite public exhibits which are not in cages or barbed wire compounds.

It is an easy public transit ride from the city center. Know that you will be doing a lot of walking! The sculptures are spread out over a great outdoor area. It is the perfect place for bringing a picnic lunch and having a lunch break in the park during your visit. When we went to the information center in the Antwerp center she didn't know anything about it and had never visited.

You should visit!

This is a free open museum for contemporary arts. It is like a park and is composed of hundreds (or more) sculptures and etc, every piece has a unique name and a short explanation. Some pieces are even interactive. It’s a good place to a take a stroll and have some thoughts for yourself.

Really great sculptures and a magical place - well worth a visit. It looks like the sculptures are being added to as there were two waiting to be put into their final position. The cafe was great for lunch and full to bursting.
I took the 21 bus from Antwerp Central Station, and the driver told me when we reached the right stop.

Middelheim open air museum is a must for any culture lover who visit Antwerp. It lies just outside of town in a complex of three parcs: Nachtengalenpark, 'Den Brandt' and Middelheim. A wonderful green area, with the museum as its highlight. You'll walk in the parc and discover 'en passant' the work of many famous sculptors as Zadkine, Henry Moore, Marini, Masscherini, Renoir, Rodin, Rik Wouters, Juan Muñoz, Carl Andre, Panamarenko, Franz West, Erwin Wurm... It takes an extra mile, but you won't regret it! The parcs are also very popular with runners! By the way: it's free, no entrance!

Each year in August this parks hosts The Jazz Middelheim Fests.
Beautiful Park for Art lovers. Nice to stroll, but a little difficult with wheelchairs as not all the paths are accessible with weelchairs. Has also a little restaurant which is open for lunch and offer great soups and sandwiches. Next to Nachtegalen Park where you can afterwards take the children to play.
