One the one hand it is a shame that just about all little houses (1up 1down) have been transformed into the showrooms of a famous Antwerp antiquarian but on the other hand, if it hadn't been for him, the entire area would probably have been demolished. Well worth a walk through. There are a few more hidden passages like this... More

There were a lot of these 'streets' in Antwerp in the past. Thanks to an antiquary one was saved from destruction. Gives a good impression of what once existed and nice to walk through.

I wouldn't have found this place without trip adviser! It is easy to miss but well worth a little look. Basically an alley which looks as it did in medieval times! Very atmospheric, always fun to see something that many others would miss!

It gives an idea how streets could look like during the Middle Ages. Not easy to find but ask locals. To give you the first direction, when you are on the Grote Markt facing the Town hall, it's on your left.

Read a lot about this, and managed to find it in the end. Lovely little alleyway, with a couple of restaurants tucked away. The noise of the city is drowned out, and you can imagine yourself being back in time.

Every Monday night in summertime a carillon concert is played in the Cathedral-of-our-Lady. The square in front of the cathedral draws huge crowds of visitors as it is viewed as a traditional party get together. If you really want to imagine yourself as having "jumped into time" the Vlaeykensgang is the place to be: shielded from traffic noise, this medieval... More

Few people know this cute little alley, it's a well kept secret for all Antwerp residents. Also, it houses a pretty good restaurant in an ancient setting. This alley is worth a peak. It's well hidden in the middle of the medieval city center. Just ask the locals and they will guide the way.

An unique location in the centre of Antwerp. Hidden between two Antwerp streets close to the Cathedral. A medieval street difficult to find you can easily be walked past unnoticed. It is a lovely oasis inside.

Absolutely charming set of tiny streets and alleys allowing a unique insight into how Antwerp was in begone days. Wonderfully restored. A must see.
