Unique experience, a must have if you have some interest for beer. The owner is super friendly, takes care personally of each and every customers. And not to mention the beers, you can have a look on Belgium’s beer culture with his guidance.

This is by far the greatest vintage beerbar in the world. A speciel place to !!Taste!! beer. Not drink, TASTE beer.. Remember that!! The owner of the bar will only let you in, if you TASTE beer and if you bring cash. You can't pay with credit card, bitcoins or any other "new technology" Only CASH. It is an odd place and the owner is what you would call "a bit of a character". To be rejected 2 times the first day and 1 time the second day, was pretty strange. But still, it was worth it. Ringing on that bell and begging on my crying knees to get into a bar, I have never tried before. A true Vintage experience this was, and I will remember it the rest of my life. Best Regards Oliver

Me and my boyfriend went to Antwerp at the end of november/start of december. We both love Belgian beer and it's super expensive and hard to find in the midlands. So we were overwhelmed by the amount of great cafes and bars in Belgium. We looked online at where we should go, we saw here and another bar near the centre called Oud Arsenaal (look at my good review for them). We went here on a Friday night and when we got there, there were another couple outside I politely asked them how to get in and they said you need to ring the doorbell(very strange). The door opened and an old man in a dirty shirt and messy white hair appeared and asked what we wanted, confused I thought the doorbell may have been for an apartment above the bar and we had upset him so I said we would like to come in. He kept asking over and over again what we want and I said we just wanted to come into the bar and drink some beer. He then shouted in my face "this is a beer haus not a cafe you do not come in here to drink beer" at this point I had enough of speaking to this rude man and suggested that we leave and go somewhere else. The other couple then politely spoke to the man in French and didnt get shouted at. We went to another cafe in the old town and read reviews online from other travelers who had similar experiences. If I can give you any advice, avoid going here! There are so many fantastic bars and cafes in Antwerp and if you're looking for somewhere with a range of beers and knowledgeable staff you only have to walk 5 minutes to find somewhere else (again try Oud Arsenaal). If you're up for a day trip I would highly recommend going into Brussels and trying the Delirium cafe! Over 2000 beers to try and friendly staff, what more could you want? CHEERS!

Oh gosh, lordy oh lord. What a place!!! It was easily located, however, I had to spend a good 10 minutes piecing together the stipulations for entry (no Dutch people, cash only, no 'drinking' beer - just tasting, no groups, complicated and gradually shrinking opening/closing times etc, no ordering of beer which is difficult to reach). I noted through the window many people drinking. Confident I could join them, I rang the doorbell. A few moments passed and an old chap came to the door and sized me up. I told him wanted to taste the beer, I'm not Dutch, I have cash and I'm not here to cause trouble. He claimed there was no bar there and seemed confused at why I wanted to come in. I repeated how I met the criteria for entry and he reluctantly let me in. The chap's wife was quite the opposite to him as her customer service skills were 10/10. After surveying their impressive and extensive list I managed to pick out a beer to sample, which was a beer the same age as me. Brilliant. I left this establishment to indulge in my hobby of bus surfing. No need to visit this place for another 300 years.

Went there because of Billie’s recommendation and got sent away: We should drink somewhere else. That was the rudest thing I ever experienced!
