good for a drink before going to the theatre

Restored for the 1993 Antwerp Cultural Capital of Europe. Beautiful old theater where theater company Toneelhuis performs high quality plays. Enjoy the decor while the lights on and the plays when off ;-) Don't forget to go have a drink in the foyer (see other review)

I assume that the restaurant at the theater is run by the Bourla restaurant in the Graanmarkt. I and a friend went in for a coffee just after opening at noon. They did not want to seat us in the upstairs restaurants even though another couple were seating there only having coffees. The waiter told that they were now a... More

This is a rare gem, a theater on the list of endangered monuments. The scene machinery is 19th century and authentic..but old.The building is very classy , but beware : go for the first floor and enjoy the brasserie/cafe. Parisian style. Right in the middle of the fashion district. For your tired feet. Or for reading the papers.

The second floor cafe is a lovely place to take a break for a tea while gazing up at the interior ceilings. Nice selection of teas and great cream for your coffee

Went to this place this weekend just before going to the theatre itself. We did not eat there but the food that we saw looked decent. We only had little time left but were served quickly and efficiently. If you go to the theatre it is good to know that there is a brasserie/bar in the same building, you might... More

During a city trip to Antwerp, we came across the Bourla theater, close to the tallest sky scraper of Antwerp of KBC Bank. Very nice theater building, absolutely worth a visit even if there is no show going on. Go to the first floor and visit the buffet area & enjoy the exceptional ceiling.

The Bourla is a rather unknown place in Antwerp. But it's really a place you should visit. Theire are places in Antwerp who are much more visited but who are less interesting than the Bourla. The guided tour gives an ecellent imression of a theater built in the Italian way. Unfortunably the guided tours are only 4 times a year... More

the hall as such is very nice, just take a coffee, but don't go there for a lazy Sunday brunch. a good brunch has to be crispy fresh, and not a mass kitchen experience
