Well situated

Again arrived on MS Balmoral and embarkation was easy and straight forward. Well situated for exploring the city which was more interesting than -for some reason- I imagined.

Antwerp is one of the major ports of the world and served by just about every major shipping line. Taking a boat around the port is a very good experience and there are some interesting places to see. Very historical.

Went on a business trip to see the steel loading terminal. The terminal itself is very efficient with some of the best Stevedores in Europe (Kateon Natie, NHS) but this was not exactly a relaxing trip

Get a great view of this centuries-old city and walk over to the Antwerp Castle on the Shelde River. Great views!

Not really an actual attraction but if in the area stop by and have a look at the water. Water is brownish so not really anything pretty. Very close to other attractions.

We docked here on our recent Viking River cruise and although there is not much to see right at the dock it is only a short walk to the historic city center and the Grote Market

Antwerp is a gorgeous city we had such a lovely experience eating and sightseeing. One of the things I loved was going on the river and watching the world going by. We did this a couple of times.

From the old warehouses built by Napoleon to the amazing New Museum - which is one of the most unique museums I have been to - there is lots to do and see.

For the sake of clarity, this place is about the modern, 21st century, port and NOT the historical one that some people described here. If you want to see the old port you have to head downtown. So, this port is "open", meaning that you can drive around and see how boats are being (off-)loaded. Take a car (seriously) to... More

The city centre is by far more interesting than the port, but yet again this is an industrial port and not a tourist one. The good news is that this is in walking distance from most attractions and you can get into some really good places to grab a bite.
