We bought a box of Leonidas chocolates directly online, making a very specific selection, as required on the site.

When the chocolates arrived, we found some of the top layer smashed, as the packaging was not adequate. We soon saw that the selection we had so carefully made was a complete waste of time, as there were several varieties in the top layer alone which we not only had not ordered, but which we also do not like. It was impossible to cross-check with our order, as the variety selection disappeared as soon as the order was placed and did not reappear in the order confirmation.

Worst of all, the second chocolate that I tried had to be spat straight out again and I had to rinse my mouth out repeatedly in order to try to remove the vile taste of (probably) chemical surface cleaner. In the hope that that was a one-off, I tried more, over a period of a day or two, to find that more than half the chocolates (on a small sample) were inedible.

Vile - never again.

I ordered the Christmas gift box for my family and several of my business associates. I had boxes mailed to my associates as special Christmas treat. When we opened the box and ate some of the chocolates, we were genuinely dismayed. First of all the selection consisted of a lot of what reconsidered, cheap chocolates, and multiple chocolates of the same variety. My wife had lived in Brussels some years earlier, and clearly knew what good chocolate should taste like. She said that it seemed these chocolates were made for export to America and Americans. Therefore the quality was far below what is sold to locals. When we got home, we went to Trader Joe’s and got some of their chocolates and the shockingly sad truth is that the chocolates from Trader Joe’s were better than the high-rise chocolates we had bought at Leonidas.

I bought 4 boxes of Leonidas Belgian Chocolate at Turnhaut, Belgium. Since I did not have a lot of time, I ordered some boxes that had mixed chocolates that were prepackaged. When I got back to San Francisco and the boxes were opened, I noticed that almost half of the chocolates were white chocolate and many were of same kind . I felt that I was taken advantage of by getting too many of the same white chocolates that Leonidas wanted to get rid of. Also---they did not accept Mastercard
or Visa, but only a lessor known card or cash. DO NOT BUY THERE !

Good quality chocolate but customer service has been in serious decline for the past couple of years at the Madison Avenue, NYC location. Customers are routinely ignored when they enter or are spoken to rudely. It often feels like the staff is doing us a favor when we make our purchases.

On a recent visit (or rather attempted visit) we arrived at a dark Leonida's storefront promptly at 12noon on a Sunday. They open at 12noon. Or rather all signs say they open at 12noon. It was about 12:10pm before we saw signs of life inside the storw. By then, there were several of us standing in front of the locked doors. One middle aged female employee steadily eyed the crowd gathering outside through the window for several minutes before turning away with obvious disgust. My boyfriend calls that expression 'faccia brutta'. I call it giving someone the stink eye. Neither is what customer service at an upscale chocolate shop should be

At 12:15 the doors remained closed and we walked away in the direction of Maison du Chocolat

The particular Sunday this happened was on Mother's Day. Kind of a busy day in the US for all candy retailers in the US and definitely not one where any shopper will tolerate a 'faccia brutta'

If you think this is a good chocolate your totally wrong, it’s cheap, high amount of sugar in them and the chocolate quality is very bad. Try something more expensive like Neuhaus if you are planing to take some chocolate with you back.

I think, Leonidas is the most delicious Belgian chocolate and the most beautiful in the whole world. Its boutiques are real masterpieces, where choosing candies, sweets and making own unique sets for close people becomes an infinite pleasure 🍫🍪🍰

Leonidas makes excellent chocolates. There is a great choice of flavors and you can mix and match as many of each as you want. My favorite was the citron while my wife loved the Carmel. Cheaper than some other places

if you have a sweet tooth and you love chocolates, well....Leonidas chocolates will definitely satisfy your taste buds. Over the past 2 decades,I have taste... eaten ...devoured a variety of their delicious creations and to date none has disappointed my palate. If visiting Belgium or even if a friend or family member offers to bring something from Belgium ....a box of goodies from Leonidas is a must.

The first time we visited Belgium five years ago we were introduced to Leonidas Chocolates, we remembered that the quality was good and also the price. When we saw the store in Antwerp recently we could not resist. On entering the store the smell of chocolate is divine for a chocolate lover, deciding what to buy is the hardest.
