This station is a marvelous example of blending the cathedral style train station architecture with modern functionality. It still has the original structure. To generate space for tracks, the station extends over three levels with few tracks per level. Being inside gives you a cathedral...More

Reportedly one of the most beautiful stations in the world. And it is beautiful. Behind the historical exterior it's also a modern multi-level station with twin level escalators (slope-flat-slope). There are plenty of easy to use multi-lingual ticket machines but if you're crossing the Belgian...More

A pretty easy train station. Came from Brussels with no hassle kids in toe. Took an inward return trip to Rotterdam. All nice and easy and on time. Prices are good too

Its not only a train station, its also a mall and an arquitecture marvel from modern days. Imagine a great victorian era large central train station coming out from a steampunk novel; well, thats actually Antwerp central station! Really worth visiting it.

Milan Central Station (9 Replies)
My wife and I recently made a day trip by rail from Lucerne to MIlan for the specific purpose of viewing The Last Supper fresco. The viewing was a once-in-a-lifetime experience which we will never forget. The Duomo is also unforgetable. Unfortunately, the experience of arriving and departing Central Station we will also never forget. It will also be a once-in-a-lifetime experience because we will definitely never return to Milan .... and in all probability never return to Italy. The...More

Old/filthy: renovation is going on, hence improvments for both should be visible next year. Thieves: agree with you, sistuations such as the one in Stazione Centrale exist because the authorities allow them to exist. I find statement such as: "we will definitely never return to Milan .... and in all probability never return to Italy." very week. You mentioned 3 good things against one bad thing, so that's a 3-1 to me for the positive side, nevertheless you rule out a return to Italy...More

Hi, The Christmas Market is mainly on both Markt and Simonstevinplien. Distance wise it's about a mile I would think. It's a pleasant 20-25 minute walk (weather permitting). Alternatively you can get a bus from outside the rail station. Any bus marked Centrum. Stand #1. Rob
