Situated "growing out of the pavement" a short distance from the entrance to the Cathedral, surrounded by restaurants, the Nello & Patrasche statue is really clever and a fun shot to add to your Antwerp tour album.

Don't trip over this cute couple lying "in" the pavement Except it really is quite a sad folklore story. Seems like we don't learn from the past

A really nice statue, cleverly worked into the paving right outside the cathedral. Being there at Christmas time was also quite timely given that Nello & Patrasche sought refuge in the cathedral around that time.

At first I wondered what on earth the statue was about and with people all over it didn't bother to stop and find out. But today as we passed I had the time to stop and read the sad story behind it.

Its a beautiful statue of a kid with his dog sleeping with the mother earth comforting him as a blanket. Cant even think of the artists marvelous imagination who made this.

This is an amusing statue on (in?) the pavement outside Onze Lievre Vrouwkathedraal depicting the story of a little boy, Nello, and his faithful dog, Patrasche, who go to the cathedral every day to see the paintings there by Peter Paul Rubens. They die together...More

The statue Nello & Patrasche was located just in front of Cathedral of Our Lady. It told about the story on the orphan boy and the abondoned cart dog. The place would be crowded with visitors and taking a photo there would be difficult.
